11:42 AM
hey there @Ash, how're things going?

Ash
@Shalvenay Pretty good all things considered, I realised I hadn't been opening chat when I logged in lately so thought I'd come and see what, if anything, was happening.

@Ash things have been fairly quiet in chat as of late

Ash
@Shalvenay Yeah I noticed that it had slowed down in here when I came back from my latest hiatus.

2 hours later…
1:17 PM
Send help. My arms have chicken pox a rash from hay.

Ash
@Hosch250 That's unfortunate, I suggest Solarcaine spray as a measure against the itch.

Hmmm, don't have it. If it gets worse, I'll look into it. It's settling down already; it seemed to have just been bad for about 15 minutes this morning.
The ranch I ride at had a shipment of hay Saturday morning, and I helped carry it into the barn.

Ash
@Hosch250 Probably just irritation from the surface abrasion rather than an allergic reaction then.

1:32 PM
Yep.
Little pockets of pus up and down the inside of my right arm, and several scratches.

@Hosch250 micro splinters

Yeah, that explains why I get it from strawberry plants too.

I have a friend who is a stylist, and she says that she gets them from tiny slivers of hair sometimes.

They are kind of like stinging nettles, but the hairs don't sting.
Ouch. My mom says hair slivers are the worst.
She cut our hair when we were growing up.

fiberglass insulation may be worse, but only by degrees.

1:39 PM

Heh, yeah.

1:59 PM
mornin all

Q: How would someone destroy a black hole that’s at the centre of a planet?

Alisha SchneiderFor starters, the black hole is temporarily contained. But once it’s containment fails it will devour the planet. Obviously, that’s a bad thing. What’s a reasonable way to prevent that? Also the black hole is currently really tiny. Like 4 feet in diameter. It can be an outlandish solution as ...

Would that be a duplicate of the indicated question, or is the suffix "at the center of a planet" enough to meaningfully change the question?

3:38 PM
@Nzall Seems a bit different, though the question may be flawed in that it is asking about a 4' BH, and as some of the existing answers indicate, that would have way more mass than the earth, and probably shred it instantly. IIRC, the schwarzschild radius for a black hole the mass of the earth is roughly the size of a peanut.

3:50 PM
For an idea about black hole sizes, this video is kinda impressive

4:40 PM
Good morning
Prime Day has some amazing deals.

Not for me, it doesn't.
I don't have prime. And I choose standard 5-8 day shipping.
They hold the order for 5-8 days, then do next-day shipping.
IMO, that should be busted for false advertising.
I don't WANT next-day shipping, I chose 5-8 day shipping, and that's what I want.

A: Sandbox for Proposed Questions

IncognitoHow can I oversee the logistics of multiple operations that operate under one umbrella orgnization? 800,000 children are reported missing every year in the U.S., roughly 2000 a day. The majority of these kids are abducted by a species known as the Lamia, creatures masquerading as humans who kidn...

Is there a feature of 5-8 day shipping you're looking for?

No.
I just want them to fulfill the order and not try to blackmail me into using prime by holding it on purpose.

And I think it's not false advertising, as it's accepted it's a shortening of the traditional "shipping and handling" that remote sellers list.

4:47 PM
See, every other company just ships the item with standard shipping when you chose that, and expedited shipping if you pick the faster option.

I think they have a deal of fast shipments figured out with UPS/USPS as far as logistics go, and they hold your package hoping for a less-busy period to ship it.

USPS does that, in general (not just Amazon), with extended shipping. I've had packages that arrived before their min time via USPS just because they shuffled it into a lul.

They don't use USPS or UPS--they deliver the item themselves.

Man, Amazon is not every other company. Amazon has had other companies build their programs around Amazon. Nobody else can do that.

They don't even mark the order as in-progress until the day before I get it.
@NexTerren That's the problem. They shouldn't have that much control over the retail market.

Well then I'd imagine it's the same deal. They're prioritizing other packages, and shuffling you off to a point where they don't have a full(er) day.
@Hosch250 I don't think that's what I was implying/addressing.

4:49 PM
Given the rates they process packages at, I don't think it's that.

Maybe.

And it just started within the last year or so.
I've used them for a few years.
And since I'm near an Amazon and UPS hub, I'd often get the packages in 3-4 days.

Didn't Amazon start their own delivery service in the last 1-2 years? That'd align with your timeframe.

Something like that.
But some of the packages still come from UPS too.
And they'll ship them with 2-day shipping too.

Well at any rate, a Samung 4 TB SSD for $400. I've never seen even no-name brands that big for that cheap. There were a few others that caught my eye.

4:53 PM
Nice :)

Also AMazon doing their deal has caused other retailers to compete. I think I saw a really nice deal on Dell.com for a monitor.
Loooks like it sold out

Audible has a handful of deals on audiobooks for prime day. I don't know about most of them, but We Are Legion (We Are Bob) was pretty good.
@NexTerren Did that download work? Was hoping to free up the space if you got it.

@AndyD273 ...Shoot, I forgot. I'll download it tonight

ok

2 hours later…
7:05 PM
@AndyD273 I've been listening to some of the Star Wars Novels on there
I just started the Revan novel today, finished the Darth Bane trilogy last week.

Assuming that the Revan stuff goes along with the Knights of the Old Republic story?

@AndyD273 That's what I thought but it appears to fall after KotOR 1 and before #2

Ah, ok
I have a decent sized library on there, though I'm a getting a little behind. May have to pause my account so I don't keep building up credits.
I kinda want to pick up Timothy Zahns new Thrawn trilogy, since I really liked the original, and I really like Zahn as an author, but I'm a little hesitant because I don't know what's going to be different between this one and the original.

7:28 PM
@AndyD273 So I created a new twitter account you might appreciate today.

@James oh?

DM of Politics
Getting everything set up and adding a bunch of politicians and news media folks.

LOL.

The idea being mocking stupidity but in DnD terms.

I'm down with mocking stupidity

7:30 PM
Heh.
@NexTerren @dot_Sp0T you guys may appreciate this as well... ^^

What's up?

Any examples yet?
Also, speaking of Star Wars, and stupidity... I watched the Red Letter Media predictions episode for Episode 9 last night, and they make a pretty strong case that they are going to attempt to fix the whole Star Wars universe with time travel.

@AndyD273 Ugh...I hope this isn't true.
@AndyD273 Not yet. I'm flipping through content to follow right now while I am on a conference call.

@James It probably won't be, but they are mostly going off the fact that J.J. Abrams is writing and directing, he has a really bad habit of using time travel in stupid ways, and after episode 8 crushed all the mystery boxes that he set up in 7, he said something along the likes of "You know, F*** it."
The other theory is that Kylo Ren will be possessed by either the force ghost of the emperor, or his undead mummified corpse, because no one is ever really gone...

8:01 PM
@AndyD273 First one. :D

8:20 PM
Interesting, though the "relative from another generation" part confuses me

8:32 PM
It means one is a R and the other is a D.

Ah, could be

Increases chances for conflicting opinions. Hence rolling at disadvantage

@James What's the saving role for not getting offended by either side?

DC (infinity)
DC (Centrist) to be offended by both.

Neither of them offend me, though I mostly get all my tweets second hand. Though one I heard is that Trump did get Pelosi to defend AOC (who failed both her INT and CHR checks) instead of attacking her.

1 hour later…
10:02 PM
@James first submission "Trump casts distraction. Trump uses sneak attack"
