My milk was frozen solid (for some reasons) and it's gone back to liquid. It hasn't been about 1-2 days since opened and didn't sit outside the fridge for long. It seems drinkable but kinda has an odd smell & taste. Not like rotten milk, but kinda strange. I know I should throw it out if unsure but I'm curious, does freezing and defrosting milk usually change its taste?

It's kinda hard to describe the taste. It's sweetened milk. Doesn't really smell of rotten milk, but I guess less "milky" than usual. My immediate thought was that the milk stuff & water kinda separated and I was maybe pouring out the more watery part first.

@JohnZhau it does sound like some kind of separation happened. Have you tried shaking the pack? And was it a closed pack that froze? Because otherwise there’s always the possibility of “freezer odor”.

Today is equinox, i.e. the official start of autumn.

I bought a Hokkaido pumpkin and there will be pumpkin soup on the menu this week.

And I am going to mix up a batch of pumpkin spice, partly because you can’t really buy it here and partly just because.
