She is amazing. I must say though that I feel somewhat guilty to leave such a young cat alone for the whole day.

But being a kitten, she also adapts to change well.

@Stephie No, and I'm happy they didn't try to pressure me. I couldn't have taken it, my landlady says she won't allow more than one. It would be too much for me too.

Also, among cat behavior specialists, the idea is very controversial

they tend to get along perfectly while they are young, but when they grow up, a large percent of the sibling pairs and virtually all non-sibling pairs don't have a friendly bond, and the presence of a second cat in the house is highly stressful.

The vet said that we should do a spaying and chipping in early January, after that she will be allowed outdoors, and the boredom problem will solve itself.

She was raised with a milk bottle, so the shelter employee who raised her is very attached to her.

I was somewhat neurotic the first days, now we have settled and it is mostly OK. But today, I want to bring her to the vet for the first time, for a "meet and greet and check immunization" kind of visit, and I wonder how she will take it.

I have left the carrier in the room in the hope she will start enjoying it as her hidey hole and won't be stressed by it, but she crossed my plans

she is the first cat I have met with zero interest in hidey holes.

I would have never expected it of yours, you mentioned he was very shy and I associate that with a cat who feels comfy in a hidden space.

Shy, yes. But he outgrew the hole-stage by six months of so. Before that, he had to examine every box or bag (cut the straps of paper bags if you leave them out), but just so see what was inside.

So you had him as a little kitten already?

Yep. He was taken inside with at I think eight or ten weeks, when we got him, he was fourteen or sixteen weeks. Something like that.

I was very surprised by her growth spurt - when I got her, she looked childish, all big head and lanky legs and a tiny body, but ten days later she already had the proportions of an adult cat, even though she is still on the small side for an adult.

I had to check old pictures to make sure my memory is not playing tricks on me.

Is it normal to have it happen so suddenly?

He was in a “meh, I’m too cool for more than a casual swipe” state for a while, but that has changed again. Yesterday he was lurking, then pouncing on his robot mouse, then hiding again... And loves to be pulled around on the living room rug.

Have you considered Klicker training?

Our kitty doesn't play much anymore. But overall she does very well for her age.

My connection is being very flaky, so I'll say "sweet kitties!" while I get the chance.

I'm doing clicker training, yes. I want to teach her to wear a leash while she's young and receptive. It goes slowly so far.

I also want to return the first laser pointer I purchased, unopened, because it has these tiny expensive batteries. Should order a better one and then there will be fun (at least when I'm home)
