4:30 AM
@JennaSloan Gallus gallus domesticus, the common domestic chicken. But she’s just ten weeks old, so she looks a bit atypical.
and I never actually said it - Journey knows about them and I kind of forgot that others wouldn’t.

Ah. I was guessing it was a chicken, but I've never seen one of that color.
It looks more like a chicken-shaped falcon to me.

As for the breed - no idea.

Mornin!
I loved the chickens on my grandparent's farm.
It was always on my list to have a small roost.
That baby looks really sweet.

Hi @Jolenealaska!

4:45 AM
Hi Stephie!
Sorry I've been so absent lately. I've been stupid busy.

@JennaSloan they're all decendants of raptors
there's a video of one... stealing a kill from a cat, and curbstomping some poor rodent

@JourneymanGeek ha, I have seen that live.
multiple times.
@Jolenealaska just generally busy, or something in particular?

5:03 AM
Both. I now have 2 adult college students teaching me how to teach math and science.
Much of it I have to relearn before I can be effective.
And other life stuff that seems to be picking exactly now to become important.
That stuff is much less fun.
So, anyone can doodle on that in real time?

@Jolenealaska did it work?

YES
how cool!
That's handy!

^_^
Oh.... I can imagine that this could be super useful for “Mom, I have a problem with my homework” situations.

5:23 AM
Yep. And I have it on my tablet AND desktop which mirrors to my TV. I can think of great ways to use it for my tutees.
Speaking of Mom homework questions, I did this last night with a young friend:
No measuring spoons.
Just scales.
I'm eating one of the cookies now.

@Jolenealaska ha, good move! Teach them “the proper method”, LOL!

Next is baker's percentages.

5:39 AM
Oh, now that’s a skill few have mastered. And you will be sneaking it in with percentages in general. Clever!
Have to run - I have to leave the house in about ten minutes and am still in my PJ’s.

5:55 AM
See ya soon!

I’m in my car!
Google says, I’ll be there on time.

6:38 AM
@Jolenealaska Those cookies don't sound very exciting.

They're actually really good.
Not exciting, but quite yummy.

But where's the flavor?

Brown sugar and a lot of vanilla. And the butter browns on the edges adding flavor and texture.

Eh, I think cookies should always contain chocolate, unless they contain oatmeal and raisins.

That certainly is an opinion!

7:05 AM
@Jolenealaska In that google docs recipe of yours, I noticed a couple issues in the ingredients section. First, where it says "weight in grams", it should say "mass in grams". Second, for the quantity of salt, it says "1 percent of the brown sugar being used in the cookie dough", but does that refer to the mass, weight, or volume?

Everything is mass, since the only measuring tools are scales. The mass vs weight thing is for a later lesson.
I specifically ask for mls of vanilla because I am making the point that mls are roughly equivalent to grams when measuring liquid.

8:01 AM
14 tablespoons of butter - ha! Pretty good, I like

@Mithrandir24601 Always a solid start :)

8:30 AM
This arrived Saturday:

@Jolenealaska Nice. If only everyone had this sort of mentality

I intend to wear things of that ilk every time I go out into public for at least 414 days.

9 hours later…
5:30 PM
@Jolenealaska If you haven't seen yet, the BBC Proms did a mix of I Dreamed a Dream and On My Own
