Hummm... I seem to have hit a rep cap of 175 today
weird

@Joubarc that can happen if a question/answer is moved or deleted - for example the Photo Lego one has been migrated to Photography, taking 50 votes with it.
@Joubarc See:
photo.stackexchange.com/questions/16741/…
@Joubarc On the plus side, I can now upvote both answers again, which seems a little odd.
Joubarc
Yeah, that's what I fugured, considering oezi has the same issue
so what, do I keep the points here anyway, and does the system consider I reached the cap? not that it matters that much, I'm curious
I can upvote oezi's answer again too
Zhaph - Ben Duguid
@Joubarc Super votes all round.
Joubarc
still feels weird to have answered a question on a site I wasn't even registered yet

@Joubarc Heh. true.

What's the consensus on the difference between part and piece?
Joubarc
Is there one?
I think "part" is better, but I know I'll use "piece" from time to time as that's the French word
Pubby8
Could piece include multiple parts?
Such as minifigure being a piece, but the parts are the head, body, and legs?
Although that seems pretty silly.
Joubarc
I'd tend to consider the contrary... if you break something, you get pieces
so you can get pieces of a part
Well, I've got to go to sleep anyway, so I'll dream of the answer.
Pubby8
Does TLG use any specific term?
@Joubarc Bye
Joubarc
good question
I think they use "partid" internally for part numbers, so yeah, part probably
although they may use a Danish word, you never know
Well, I seem to be wrong, they use "Element ID" on the pick-a-brick section of the shop. So there... "element".
BoltClock
8:44 PM
Ah yes, "element".
Joubarc
And I'm going to sleep. See you around!
BoltClock
'night.
When I was younger I saw lots of occurrences of the word "element". Especially in the yearly catalogs.
I still prefer "part" or "piece". But we have to settle on one.
