Others beat me to it. Normally the most difficult hurdle to understanding the method is how Remez links portions of scripture, and Drash overlays them and shares context. The method is 2000 years old and common in Midrash. So it is not my novelty.
Consider Sensus plenior nothing more than Midrash constrained by the the rules, and applied to Old and New Testament together. I learned it from a rabbi. I appreciate your patience with me trying to explain it. I have been using the more formal structure to show the steps. Hope it helps.
Normally when people learn to do Midrash, they learn it from a trusted rabbi. This helps get over the things that seem non-intuitive. You would just do them until they were comfortable. In this environment, you are learning it from someone you don't trust. That is an additional hurdle. I recognize that.
I see, so chat isn't real time, it is just an extended comment log.
"edit it down to a focused answer," Welcome to my world. I have been teaching it face to face for ten years, and even children get it. But I am unable to penetrate the barriers to the written word. Face to face I can respond to immediate questions, and even body language.
Since the site was explained to me, I have taken liberties to play a bit, just to get some experience with different parts and learn how things work together. I presume it can blink out at any time, so stuff I do which is original I am capturing, just cause I'll forget if I don't. The best way to understand SP is probably not to get slammed with it in a single question.
There has to be some sort of intro to it, so you get a context. Otherwise it is just strange. But that is why I am practicing. I learn from your feedback where the gaps in presentation are. A dictionary of metaphor would be helpful.
But I don't think you want a couple thousand questions like : Why is the donkey a prophet in sensus plenior?
