A: Getting higher power output by using more resistors

tybluYep, putting them in parallel increases the group power dissipation and lowers group resistance. You still need to calculate power dissipation separately. $$R1 \parallel R2 = \frac{R_{1}R_{2}}{R_{1}+R_{2}}$$ $$P = IV = I^{2}R = \frac{V^{2}}{R}$$ If you have N resistors in parallel and they are...

A: Where can I find small cheap springs?

reemrevnivekUm, Staples, Office Depot, Amazon, or Newegg (or Google Shopping)? Not a bad option for personal projects. Shipping from Grainger or McMaster Carr will be more than the cost of the $5 12-pen box (which puts the springs at $0.41 apiece). I have no idea where to order these for production.

brok'd :(

A: DC - High Voltage DC converter that acts like a sink

Russell McMahonA good solution will be 'not too hard" to provide once the true requirement is fully described :-). At present your description covers a range of possible requirements. Can you provide more details and/or a circuit diagram with suitable notes? At present the following may describe what is wante...

Added some latex to that for the hell of it...but the answer is not that coherent, and fixing all the prose would take forever. :(
@DanielGrillo, @Kortuk, make and go to , [tag:electronic-speed-controller] or the like (they don't exist currently, however).

Looks like Russell (of PIClist fame) has shown up to answer a few questions. He is an expert at small switchers and LED lighting, and broadly knowledgeable about many other subjects. Let
Let's hope he stays around.

4:12 AM
He should learn some markdown formatting :P

4:48 AM
@markrages That sounds like great news!
@markrages And I agree on that note.

5:36 AM
@Kortuk so you migrated it to meta then deleted it there?

Q: Guide for bulding a Colpitts Oscillator?

OmartvHi, how are you? Im looking for a good guide to design a colpitts oscillator. Also if you know you can submit ur explanation? Im suppose to do one with a 1.63MHz frequency so im looking but i want your help too

@Nick - That looks like a bad homework question to me.
@All - If you see a question or answer with broken dollar signs causing LaTeX markup where it wasn't intended, like @Tyblu's link to mine (electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/11068/…), you can replace those dollar signs with the HTML code $, just like replacing < or > signs with < / < or > / > can sometimes fix problems with markdown.
o_O
No you can't.
After trying it, the javascript still triggers on $ ... what should we do about this?

Q: How to test internal resistance on small lithium polymer cell?

RobI'm coming from a computer science background, and will be writing some software to automate battery testing. I have background in math, but little to none in physics or electronics. Please consider this in your answers. That said, how would I go about testing the internal resistance of a small ...

^ @NickT theres an error in the answer yu edited

I didn't really look at it beyond a minor tweak

5:15 PM
@NickT - $\$$ works - You get a TeX-ified dollar sign. Would be hard to explain. Also, I really don't want to pollute the front page with a bunch of dollar-sign edits. Is there a better way to do these edits?
Note: I think this:

Q: TeX Delimiters should be changed

reemrevnivekThe current LaTeX escapes of $ ... $ need to be changed. Several questions/answers have two dollar signs in the text somewhere. E&R has a number of questions with prices, and we usually use USD, represented by the $ character, as the monetary unit. This has lead to a number of broken que...

how are we going to combat link rot?
like in this question the one answer is fantastic but the link to the Stepper motor basics is dead.

Q: Is it possible to drive a stepper motor greater than 1000 rpm?

Kevin Boyd How could I achieve this? What are the stepper motor facts and principless that I have to keep in mind to design a circuit to achive this goal? Are there any readymade/open source alternatives and circuits available to achieve this task? Do I have to approach design for geared and no...

@Dean - Images should be fine.
Wikipedia/blog posts should be summarized.
However, large code excerpts and PDFs - I don't know. I feel like we should host those.

yea
*yeah

6:29 PM
@Dean That's why we frown on people just dumping a link without much else of an explanation

@Nick - And yet we continue to do it.
Maybe more than just a frown is required.

I blame the mods

@Dan - Interesting time for you to show up....

@reemrevnivek please don't flag unless there is an actual problem

6:38 PM
@NickT the obvious course of action is to flag such messages as you come across them on SE2.0 sites.

@reemrevnivek Why?

6:55 PM
@Dan - It was a joke, you showed up, I figured you'd see it and laugh. I took some extra liberties because it's just chat. Instead, hobod, Stefa, and drach showed up from other sites to investigate Nick's disparagement of moderators....whoops! I didn't realize that flags here propagated like that. At least Stefa got the joke...
Lol. I often occasionally through old National Geographics; it's amazing how much more politically correct advertising is now than it was then.

@reemrevnivek Yes, I lauhted. But I didn't see any flag yet.

What, @drachenstern has something that looks on all the chat channels for "blame" and/or "mods"?
metalworking time, latr folks

7:13 PM
@NickT Yes, I do. ;) bwahahaha (ok no I don't)
@reemrevnivek I didn't admonish anyone for flagging negatively. I merely instructed him what he should do with the questions that he doesn't like. There's no way for the mods to know about questions that are no good.

@Dean I've already corrected the link to the "Stepper motor basics" in that answer.

@DanielGrillo Thanks the document looked really interesting and i wanted to view it but could not thats why i bought up link rot

@Dean Not at all! And you're right in your point. I'll ask for help with the others mods. Thanks

@DanielGrillo, Happy to see you in chat again!.

@Kortuk Hi! Good to see you here too. Normally when I enter here there isn't nobody.

@DanielGrillo, I try to get in once a day!
@DanielGrillo, thank you for giving that temporary suspension to the user that was causing problems.
@DanielGrillo, I had to tap out and go to sleep and it seemed like he had stopped for a moment.

@Kortuk Now I wanna do this too. At least once a day.

@DanielGrillo, also, if you leave someone a comment on their answer and then delete it they can still see it. I waiting to delete that pickit 3 also, I think your feedback and waiting to give them 12 or more hours to respond is a good case
I cleared out 12 flags this morning.
@DanielGrillo, You disappeared for a little while, how are things going?

12!
I was on vacation and went to a beach, here in Brazil. It was difficult to access internet
