@Marla Mods are not allowed to discuss suspensions, or reveal any details.
If one wants to speak in someone's defense, that should be fine.

So mods aren't allowed to talk about it. Does that mean WE are not allowed to talk about it? WE in chat.
Sounds kind of one sided. Or are We afraid to?
I am a bit upset that Andy was suspended. His latest suspension feels like it was a dispute against "mods", not because he made offensive statements against members. It is a reasonable dispute. Here in chat, we can make reasonable discussion about his alleged" offensive" comments. Yet there is an absence of comments.

I ain't trying to escalate, just seeing if chat is more open to discussion, or is chat gagged by subservience to cancel culture.
And, I think our "mods" are doing a good job. It is a thankless job. Sometimes supporting the party line is very difficult.
BTW,. Nick and W5V0 are 2 of the best folks supporting the stack
Oh,. pING. @NickAlexeev. and @W5VO

So if Andy said or did something that resulted in a suspension, I would expect it to be no longer visible. It's not that I'm worried about it, but since I'm not a mod anymore, there's nothing I can add other than speculation.

@W5VO . I am not angry . Just making sure we still can have discussion in chat

We are also not aware of any dialog between the mods and Andy that would have served as a warning for a specific behavior that might be below the threshold of an immediate suspension but something that needs addressing.

Yes, I know that we don't have the facts. And, that bothers me. Andy is not a lunatic. There should be a way to include sensitive members as well as stodgy members. But sensitive members now get priority over stodgy members.
BTW, I am glad that we are having this discussion here in chat. I figured I would be suspended for having an alternate viewpoint.

Like I said, we're not going to suspend you, we're not mods XD

😃
Gotta love it. I get to speak my opinion. Doesn't get any better than that. Thank you Nick and the stack.

Ultimately, it's Andy's choice how this plays out. For a 7 day suspension, there's probably no use appealing the suspension to the community managers since they used to have such a long backlog.
One valid option is to let the suspension run it's course and then go back to "business as usual". It will be difficult, if not impossible to see any evidence of the suspension afterwards.

But it seems like his latest suspension is an argument against a moderator position. I guess I should let it go.. But I really like Andy's contributions. I don't want him to be run off like Olin Lathrop.

Another option is to give permission to the mods to make the details of his suspension public, with screenshots of comments or other evidence that may be relevant in a meta post. That goes more like an appeal to the "court of popular opinion",

It is difficult. However, I started this commentary to test the openness of the chat room rules. And have found that here in chat, I can speak freely. . . Thank you stack exchange.
@W5VO. . .you have been a long term contributor, and a former mod (I think). Thanks.

Does it matter if the comparator is open drain/collector, push pull, rail to rail?

@Marla I didn't realize there was a posting on meta.EE that may be related:

Q: Maybe I'm two more deleted comments closer to a suspension

Andy akaI thought I may not have left a comment under a question when asked by the OP if I had a mathematical solution. So, I repeated the comment with an "@" directing it to the OP should I have forgotten to make it clear who the intended recipient was. My comment was something like "I have a simulator"...
