Anyone have thoughts on using 75°C/167°F Riser CAT-6 in an attic for a 12W PoE application? Attic used to get to 52°C/125°F before fans, now stays under 37°C/100°F.
Living dangerously, you could say that the 24->23AWG gives you 20% less resistance.... and then from I^2R you could handle 11% more current. Not sure where that ranks in terms of "trying to be smarter than the NEC"...
@rdtsc I don't think that'll be an issue -- 725.144 permits 2.5A for a single 23AWG CMx cable at 30degC ambient, and it's only derated by 88% by table 310.15(B)(2)(a) at 37degC ambient
