We used to go to the Cebit every year. It was partly a trade show but also open to the general public. The stands nearly all had some give away, but not always things that the general public could use or even make sense of.

One year, we were looking for a particular connector (single, panel mounted jack like an RJ45) and were at a stand that had the right kind of jack.

The jacks had push in V slots for the wires - you needed a special tool to connect wires to it. The giveaways at that stand were a cheap plastic version of the tool, with the company logo.

The "Beutelratten" would snag one in passing, kind sneaking one out of the jar without stopping.

They didn't stop while snagging the freebie, but they all stopped a few steps later to turn if over and around trying to figure out what it was they'd just snagged.

It was pretty funny to watch them.
