7:36 AM
@ThePhoton gerry

8:25 AM
@PlasmaHH None of the dukes or lords involved were called Gerry, as far as history recorded.

9:21 AM
@Asmyldof Surely a nickname that nobody wanted to be recorded.

4 hours later…
12:56 PM
I wonder if we'll go for the trifecta where Trump will now also say something that makes people weary of the dollar

1:41 PM
Something like to put solar cells on every dollar bill?

2:00 PM
No, something with actual consequences

If he did nothing, that would be a good thing

@Asmyldof dying?

2:15 PM
@PlasmaHH No that'll most likely stabilise the dollar, as Pence is vastly conservative and pro-business without all the insane, which will boost industry confidence and bring it all back down.
Well...
With all the insane, but without shouting about it in the news

Maybe when it happens in a spectacular way at just the right moment?

In Canada , there are small secret bars open all night in big cities.

gold bars? or tungsten?

In California you can buy liquor in Barn size stores (Liquor Barn) but it is illegal to sell drinks at a nude dance joint, yet in Winnipeg, it is a favorite lunch place at a hotel bar to watch strippers and have lunch and even play gambling machines
Trump just created a different elitist swamp, he's truthful about his election promises but doesn't tell you the consequences, because he knows the media and public are too dumb. Big Oil, Big Pharma and big gun sales are his clients.
consequences of a Narcisist is that they never back down, obfuscate the lies with small truths, and are harder than skunk oil to get rid of.
Going for a Tesla Model S test drive today. They have a huge vertical screen on the dash, nice seats and personalized driver settings with web access and remote software updates overnight.
average test drive is 0.5MWh which seriously reduces range.
that's an average of about 500 Hp
Diamonds & Cobalt will be the new currency for high tech industry, after oil & gas is squandered from fracking in our lifetime. Flood repairs and dams will be the new industry of billionaires when NL and Cali go under the rising ocean and many other islands go off the map. Methane is much worse than CO2 for climate change\
Lots of Lithium around , but the toxic waste from battery dumps in future will be a problem, just like Arsenic gas from LEDs and other semi production.
Engineers are too weak in demanding sustainable life and products.
9/11 is not a conspiracy but a fact that it was a controlled implosion with coincidental planning to benefit clients of the Republicans including Trump. Guess what the next distaster will be to sway dumb Americans and obfuscate them from the truth of minor collatoral damage like 9/11 compared to the planned consequence of war. ($)
Remember the Oil crisis? Next will be the sinkhole crisis and contaminated water supply, which will make Canada richer in raising prices of water to the USA.
Water will be much more expensive than fuel in the future .

2:37 PM
@TonyStewart . Diamonds ? Really now?

Hi guys, in the context of HDL what's the difference "analysis" and "elaboration" when referring to EDA tools?

not just de Beers but their trading partners for industrial drills for fracking, oil exploration and semiconductor substrates for higher speeds than GaAs or Saphire which is faster than Silicon

That is industrial use, not currency

American's are the biggest consumers of oil ( US MIlitary) and the plans to keep them busy with wars Oil consumption will be dominated by American's short sighted thinking (voters) at the profit for the wealthy. Gold and US dollar have always being inversely related with oil being a moderator. But EU is getting wiser with future plans to eliminate gas consuming car sales in many countries.
Trump's next distaster is health care but voters are too dumb to realize it yet. This still feeds Big Pharma , and medicine at the expense of affordable health care. Trump is like a steamengine with threats to members of congressa about keeping their jobs if they dont follow his directions. Obvious conflict of interest just like Nepotism.
**The compilation** process generally has three phases - analyze, **elaborate**, and link - to build an executable (before simulation can be performed). In the elaboration phase, the compiler (i.e. VCS, NC-Verilog, ModelSim, etc.) expands the elements (Verilog code) under generate statements with the respect to the corresponding conditions, iterations, etc. of the generate statements. Generally, these conditional, iterative, etc. generate statements are controlled via module-level parameters; hence giving opportunities to the parent module(s) to configure the instance(s) of the parameterize

1 hour later…
3:50 PM
What is the best transparent material for green house like constructions? Polycarbonate? Polystyrene? Acrylic?

4:09 PM
Some Polycarb has UV blocker but is most durable. You can drive a car over these 12'x2' panels _/ _/ _/ \ $50/panel (home Depot) I used them for a 14x12' Pergola with 2x10 beams and 2x8 supports on 4x4 supports down 8' in concrete, but you may be able to reverse them oand remove the UV block coating. I used to prevent UV exposure but you want it.
UV coating is on 1 side
PVC is the worst but half the price... very brittle
PE is translucent, and Acrylic is very expensive

1 hour later…
5:18 PM
@TonyStewart Last I heard they were struggling to get a diode working on diamond. Diamond is really hard
There is incredible promise with diamond semiconductors, but still unlikely to upset big silicon.

5:40 PM
Anybody know if there's a standard for routing USB (2 or 3) signals over a backplane?

6:15 PM
@ThePhoton, I remember reading something about that and the main point I got was keeping the D+ and D- lines close together and match the lengths.
(and don't forget the 22ohm series resistors)

@BrandenBoucher I'm more looking for, can I buy an off-the-shelf board that is a USB hub with its upstream connector being to a cable but its downstream connections are to a backplane?

ooh
well... guessing you're not going for quite this simple: amazon.com/Adafruit-USB-Micro-B-Breakout-Board/dp/B00KLDPZVU/…

7:08 PM
@ThePhoton Nope, looked for that a year or two ago, then made it myself. USB2.0 only though

@Asmyldof What kind of backplane distance did you manage?

7:37 PM
@ThePhoton Longest was 48cm-ish
buried in 408HR

3 hours later…
10:17 PM
@ThePhoton It can be much worse: India-Bangladesh enclave complex.

10:45 PM
USB 3 demands precision controlled impedance using polyamide or Getek ir better dielectric with TDR fab tested/controlled impedances with differential stripline tracks on separate layers following exact same path length. Return loss @1GHz ought to be -15dB. Standards were much tougher for OC-496 E/O interface with CMRR and crosstalk
