@Miniman why not?

@waxeagle Not USA :P
Same reason as its 4am in the morning for me

12:27 AM
@waxeagle I'd buy that. So sick of trying to work out whether things were hit by Burning Hands.

12:59 AM
@Miniman it's not explicitly limited to US only?
SE has mods and users all over the globe and they send physical stuff to them not regularly, but not rarely either

Q: RPG Stack Exchange D&D 5th Edition Contest - Dungeon Master's Guide Edition

Grace Note Dungeon Master's Guide Raffle Open Now September 30th marks when the Monster Manual's major release came out. The Dungeon Master's Guide comes out in December, over two months from now. So until the day, post good upvoted questions about 5th Edition for a chance to win a free copy of the ...

@Adeptus Yep
@waxeagle Huh. I thought it was for some reason.

Ah well. I've answered a few, but haven't asked any.

@Adeptus It still seems odd that it's for questions rather than answers, but in some ways it could be a good thing. If it was for answers I'm pretty sure @waxeagle would have won all 3 :P

3:02 AM
tbh, it's consistently harder to ask good questions than provide good answers

3:28 AM
@waxeagle -- agreed

@JoshuaAslanSmith Why not? The light comes from the flame, which springs forth from an object on command and neither consumes oxygen nor gives off heat. The flame can't be quenched or smothered. Sounds pretty magical to me. Besides, Continual Flame eats up a 50gp material component. If you don't allow it to illuminate magical darkness, it's no better than loading up a mule with 50gp worth of torches.
Which is to say, the spell becomes worthless because you're better off casting the Light cantrip.

@waxeagle You're a mod on Christianity.SE, right?
Ah, never mind. I found the answer to the question I was going to ask.

> Will Morningstar support 5th Edition D&D?
At this point, we're in the same boat as the rest of the community - waiting to hear the news about OGL for 5e. When further details about the parameters of that license are released, we will absolutely support fifth edition as fully as possible within Morningstar.

@Miniman Nope, not limited to the US.

2:41 PM
I might however be a bit late as we have a meeting that happens before the drawing period.

202 tickets... so close to a nice and round number.

6:27 PM
We'll probably do like last time, roll 3d6 and convert from base 6 to base 10
This'll be a lot cleaner because 202 to 216 is a much smaller reroll class.

6:48 PM
...wait, whoops, did the cutoff point wrong.
It's actually 197

Welcome, everyone, to the Roleplaying Games Stack Exchange Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition Dungeon Master's Guide Contest Raffle Drawing Rescheduled Chat Event! Unfortunately had to reschedule so soon towards the drawing, hopefully we didn't lose too many observers as a result.
Today I'll be doing a single drawing, using the chat's dice feature. From September 30th until the end of December 8th, all upvoted and open questions asked about D&D 5th edition were tallied up, each question producing one ticket for the individual who asked. In total, 197 tickets were earned across 93 users. The winner of this drawing will receive a free copy of the Dungeon Master's Guide for 5th Edition.
This even-more-ginormous-than-last-time thing is the drawing table I will be using. As with last time, we'll be rolling 3d6, and converting the print-out from base 6 into base 10. A roll of a 6 will be treated as a 0 in that digit, similar to how one treats a 10 from a 2d10 used for 1d100 - by extension a roll of all 6s will be treated as 216 in our functional 1d216.
With 197 tickets any result of 198 or above will result in a reroll. 197 is 525 in base 6, so we won't have any easy cuts like last time but all the same, any roll of 526 or higher will result in a reroll.
That's all for the explanation. Are we all ready to get started?

@GraceNote lol

Alright, let's kick this off then!
d6 d6 d6

What an oddly sequential number~

haha
those chat dice

Funky

345 gives us 137, so congratulations to Nicholas for winning a copy of the Dungeon Master's Guide!

@nicholas congrats
Yeah a ridiculous amount of questions this time

@nicholas 'grats :)

This has been our final raffle for the 5th edition contest. I'd like to thank everyone who participated, be it those who asked throughout as well as those who only partook in one or two of the raffles. An extra word of thanks to the answerers who answered the almost 500 questions generated from this event - I read all of the answers as I do all these tables and it's wonderful to see all of them.
It's been a wonderful time running this raffle - I hope everyone had fun and most importantly learned a lot from the experience.

@GraceNote thank you very much, I feel like it really did help us get a body of content for 5e

7:07 PM
I will be compiling statistics regarding the participation numbers, both for this specific raffle period as well as for the event as a whole, at a later date, and will provide them in the meta thread.

oh very nice
