Q: When/how did Harry Truman give the order to bomb Hiroshima?

HenryAm I correct in assuming that Truman and only Truman had the authority to order the bombing of Hiroshima? After all, it was the very first A-bomb and procedures may not have been formalized yet. It occurs to me that maybe a theater commander like Gen. MacArthur could have given the order. Given...

Lance PollardLooking at some texts and not sure what these symbols mean in these few cases. Wondering if one could just list off real quick what the purpose is of the symbols or patterns (like the spacing patterns), and if they can be removed or changed to something else. Purpose of spacing and lines here ...

Hi basically I am pretty particular about my subjects so only a novice in this subject, I want to start a project on studying the development of the use of these "Aryan paragraphs" in societies because I was shocked at a number of things, firstly how far back examples of them predate the Nazis, and secondly how as how bizarre and irrational the manner for determining an "aryan" person was.
I mean even being Russian seems to have excluded one, qualifier based on nationality when their premise is ethnic just seems like stupidity that would have been called out from the beginning, aside from the stupidity of having an ethnic prejudice to begin with
anyway if anyone can give me any good references for this much appreciated

10:08 PM
The concept of a "Nation" at the time included common culture, language, and presumed ethnicity. So if they said "Russian", they could mean any or all of those things.
As for references to help someone get into the mind of Nazis, I can't help you out there. Ultimately I'm really here because I enjoy it, but getting into the head of a Nazi is about as enjoyable as cleaning out a septic tank.
