I've just been looking at this question:
15
Q: Can seeking arguments against Christianity strengthen Christianity?

rpegSome take the position that some knowledge is the work of Satan. Some take the position that critical analysis can strengthen good ideas and weaken bad ones. Should Christians seek out information that is antithetical to their faith?

What do people think about this in light of our effort to have questions that are answerable using doctrine or other references? Is there any way to ask a question about this that would be referancable? Should we edit it the other direction to be about beliefs in general and ask Philosophy.SE if they want it?

@Caleb I think the way it's asked, it is a philosophy question. (Generalisable to "Can seeking arguments contrary to my beliefs strengthen my beliefs"). But it could be edited to ask specifically about Christian attitudes/teachings on exploring other faiths and ideas - something along the lines of "What does [the Bible]/[specific doctrine] say about exploring ideas that are contrary to Christianity?"
The latter is a question of Christian morality though ("is it right to explore other ideas") as opposed to "can it strengthen my faith"
