Q: Why do some people go out of their way to mistakenly think that it's permissible for a Jew to try college?

Awtsmoos--עצמותB"H There is a clear Torah prohibition for every Jew to go to college no matter what, as that's what the Rebbe, the leader and prophet of our generation, has directed us to do, and it's a Mitzvah to listen to the Nasi of the generation. Letter: It is therefore more obvious than ever that no Jew ...

It sounds like no matter whatever answer someone gives, it will not suffice, since it will contradict a prophetic statement according to you ..so not sure what you are trying to achieve
Is this a pashkevil or an actual question?
@sam authoritative sources for anyone trying to justify it . Not act question has to gain an answer that will charge one's view, I will always have the same view I have, but the purpose of this question is at least to try to understand the "other side", so I know how to properly refute them in the future. What I do with the information I gain is not the concern of anyone else here, but the question itself is still a valid question.

I would also like to point to this article chabad.org/therebbe/article_cdo/aid/2619782/jewish/…
@sam what does that have to do with anything?

@Awtsmoos--עצמות ,everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I am not here to argue with anyone for that matter ,the question just comes off wrong . If you would remove the initial paragraph, I think you would have gotten some good response
Didn't the Rebbe himself study in university?
@Harel13 yeah. So what? Moshe went to pharos palace. Should every Jew go to his palace ? No. We listen to what he told us to do, not what he himself did
@sam I hear your opinion, and I reject it
Did the Rebbe ever explain why it was right for him to go to academia but not anyone else?

Ok ,no further questions or comments .
@Harel13 did hashem ever explain why he caused rabbi akiva to suffer? Things that tzadikim do are similar to things that hashem does. If they want us to know why they did something, they will tell us. In general it's none of our business to know why they would do the things they do. The Rebbe Maharsh used to take a wagon into the forest and lie down on the ground, letting huge amounts of bugs and ants crawl all over him. He didn't want to tell anyone until his wagon driver spilled the beans etc... One time the baal shem tov told one of his students to take a huge trip just to say a shehakol..

Did Hashem go to university?
@Harel13 yes, He goes every day. Every second. As long as there are Jews in university, Hashem goes with them. Hashem is in exile where the Jewish people are in exile. That's why we need to be careful where we go, so we don't bring hashem, chos vishalom, further into exile. The goal is to have the redemption.
Oh brother. Ciao.
@Harel13 Did the Rebbe ever explain why it was right for him to go to academia but not anyone else? The Rebbe referred to his experience on occasion, but (afaik) only to buttress his arguments against it. That said, he still made exceptions for certain individuals and circumstances, and he was certainly qualified to make the same determination for himself. Chassidim would consider the very question absurd on its face.
@shmosel thanks for the straightforward explanation and links.
@Harel13 you're welcome

Imagine a world where no Jew becomes a doctor - wouldn't that be a drama?
@mbloch I can imagine all I want. But not sure what you're trying to imply. The Rebbe said no Jew should go to college, and that's what we must listen to. There's no Mitzvah to become a doctor that overrides a clear directive from a verified prophet
@Awtsmoos--עצמות regarding your words The Rebbe said no Jew should go to college, and that's what we must listen to in your comment to mbloch please take a look at my answer.
@EdwardBi can't read a 36 page article. Just summarize the main points in a paragraph in the answer. So far I see a mention of "programs" in cases that are absolutely necessary. No mention of college or university
@Awtsmoos--עצמות please see my revised answer.
