1:33 PM
Morning

1:55 PM
@packs Y'know, some days I wonder why you and I bother hanging out here. Not that I don't enjoy your company here or anything, but who else really shows up on a regular basis anymore?

2:27 PM
It is unfortunate, yeah.
For me, the whole chat site is just one more tab that tells me when there's activity.
So it's honestly not really out of my way :)

yeah, I never come in here at all, @Iszi.
Hi @packs

@GrahamLee!
Good afternoon, I think?
Sure, I'll go with that.

oy oy

wot wot?

very much so
*afternoon, that is

2:36 PM
Hm. Well, I just noticed that the -s0 tcpdump I kicked off on our datacenter border yesterday was still running.
I can't believe I didn't fill up the disk on that box
@Iszi I just read your question, and the comments, about provoking from falling. In the case of being bull rushed off the cliff, I would have to read the rules more closely, but I don't think you would provoke.
The cliff's edge would create a hard corner

3:05 PM
@packs You can still MBA around a hard corner. There's just cover.

MBA?

Melee Basic Attack
In the end, a Rules Compendium update that hasn't made it into D&DI yet for some reason excludes falling from provoking Opportunity Attacks.

4:04 PM
@GrahamLee Sorry. It's just that about 79% of the time, it feels like it's just me and @packs. Occasionally we'll see you, @RoryAlsop, or @AviD, but that's about it.

well, there aren't too many more active users of s.se.com to find the chat room ;)

4:20 PM
@Iszi Ah, I thought you used to not be able to perform AOO's around hard corners.
I've not done a lot of 4e, though.
There's that guy that doesn't seem to understand how networks work outside of the textbook that taught him the OSI model :)

Assuming you're talking DnD, I got annoyed when 3.5e came out and resolved to stop paying WotC any more money.

I should probably write a factually correct answer. I get the feeling that it would start a shitstorm, but those are the breaks.
@GrahamLee 3.5 was about the time that my playing group fell apart, so I didn't really live through any of that.
I didn't get back into it until 4th came out, and my current group didn't really enjoy the play too much so we jumped to Pathfinder when it was released.
They don't seem to focus on puking out the rules books like WotC had been.
Though they're scaling back a lot now.
Merles was saying that they finally noticed exactly how much errata was being produced, and realized that they were putting content out too quickly to actually playtest it.

Wow, this is bad for MS: ie6countdown.com
"You don't use our product because you're all still using our product."

4:40 PM
Those numbers are pretty interesting

yeah, why does china have such a big IE6 share?

5:00 PM
I'd like to see the figure on people still using IE on the Mac.
They say saving hours of work for web developers very true for IE6 but IE on the Mac would be saving weeks of work.

gosh, that's ancient. Wasn't 5.2 the last version?
I had a reader turn up in my blog's analytics report last week who was on WinME sob

yea it was ancient think it was last year it was finally officially not supported by M$ it truely sucked actually made IE6 look good.
WinMe think we all still have nightmares about that.

Apparently IE5 for Mac had colourspace support, which IE on Windows lacks.
Yeah, I didn't care either.

suppose everything has to have one good thing about it. trying to think of one for Me suppose the CD would make a good coffee coaster.
I love how the IE9 website (beautyoftheweb.com) does not work at all without JavaScript enabled.

5:19 PM
I love how it says "Hosted in the cloud". Is there anywhere else websites can be hosted?
"Hosted on the Microsoft intranet" would be pretty crappy from a marcom perspective

lol its true but maybe its to make people think there data is up in the sky and when it rains the data is beind defragged.
you seen the apparent new feature of Windows 8 where your going to be able to login with your live ID to the machine.

so I can use anyone else's Windows box?

5:36 PM
@packs I presume AOO = Attack of Opportunity? In 4e they're just called Opportunity Attacks or OAs. An OA is just a MBA that's sort of half-way between an Immediate Interrupt and Immediate Reaction.
@GrahamLee Aren't they like the top in rank for pirated copies of Windows?

that's why I thought they'd be up to date. It's not like they have to pay for upgrades.

@MarkDavidson Everyone always complains so much about Me, but I didn't really find it any more or less problematic than 98SE.

You didn't try to use it in October 2001 then :)

5:58 PM
Something special about that time? I probably still would have been on Me, since XP hadn't released to Retail yet.

yeah, there was a bug in System Restore so it could still snapshot after that date, but couldn't find the snapshots

1 hour later…
7:26 PM
@Iszi Yeah, they renamed it as OA in 4e. The 3/3.5/Pathfinder approach was pretty similar. It's just a single attack at your highest bonus, and is (as you mentioned) an interrupt action.
