apt-get --purge autoremove will free 1.6gb of unused kernels... I remember when Linux would fit on a 1.44MB floppy...

now only a couple unused kernels are 4x bigger than my first hdd

@ThoriumBR You can still make Linux tiny, if you configure it correctly. The problem is, the kernel is bundled with a ton of drivers, which are just completely unnecessary for you - but the guys who precompile you drivers don't know that

I found out I haven't configured it to automatically purge unused kernels every week, so I had a handful of older kernels sitting around

Mhm, that probably plays a role as well. But even then, precompiled kernels are usually massive

You're better off compiling your own, if size is an issue

I have linux (openwrt) running on a tiny router with only 16mb of flash, and it have web interface for admin, and even a print server

it cannot be upgraded anymore because it have no space to even download updates

For me, it was just casually uploading a Burp file to the archive and forgetting to strip it of non-scoped data. During the pentest, I had a hearted discussion, in which I called someone racial slurs several times.
