@MechMK1 let's stop engaging John on the law enforcement/legal aspects to his pentesting questions. He's asking the same questions over and over and doesn't appear to be getting closer to whatever underlying understanding that he needs. I'd prefer, actually, to edit out his legal questions and start making his new questions copies of the questions he's asked before. All his questions are answered by "get permission, follow laws, ask when in doubt".

The more he tries to drill down, the closer he gets to a purely legal question, which is off-topic.

It irritated me enough that I'm now a free speech absolutist.

And I'm amazed at the horrible arguments people come up with against free speech absolutism.

Like the whole "shouting fire in a movie theater" argument which 1) does not deal with free speech, but method of imparting the speech (for the same reason, you can't throw books at people just because the contents of said books are protected), and 2) was first used by a judge who was trying to argue for banning books (yeah yeah genetic fallacy, but it's still good to know).

Right of Free Speech does not equate to a Responsibility to be Heard, which also gets confused in the topic. And Free Speech is not freedom from responsibility for what one says, another concept that gets confused.

I agree with absolute free speech. I do not agree that that means that everyone must listen to someone spout off and give the speaker a pass for whatever is said.

Because that limits free speech. If I say "go break the law" and someone does, it should be on them for breaking the law (and for being dumb enough to listen to me telling them to do so).

Let's take "yelling fire". A kid watching Moana in the theatre sees the lava monster and shouts "fire". Someone wants to create a panic and shouts "fire" in order to cause a reaction in the listeners. The speech; the words, the volume, the context, they are identical. The motivation is radically different. One intends harm, disruption.

People are impacted by words, by communication. That's the point of communication.

Yelling "fire" and communicating the word "fire" are different things. I don't think I should be able to yell that in a theater anymore than I should be able to tattoo a political manifesto on my daughter's back.

And why? If I want to publish something out of a book stand next to my own home, I should be able to do so regardless of the contents of the book and regardless of my motivations.

I don't believe I should be held responsible for my motivations nor the contents of said book. Likewise, I should be able to publish anything on the internet (assuming I find a company willing to host it, or I host it myself), or on DVDs I distribute, or USB flash drives. If I'm distributing something under false pretenses, then perhaps I should be required to disclose what I am distributing, for example so I don't give out USB drives with malware to people who are unaware of that fact.

I have a really hard time finding good mobile games these days, it makes me sad. I don't do that much game playing, usually I'll play a bit at night before I go to bed, so I'm always on the look out for something simple and mindless. It's hard to find anything that works for me

Most everything seems to be the "come back in 2 hours to get your things or pay money to get it now", and I hate that style of game

I've been tempted to play king of thieves again - that one entertained me for a while

I just want something simple I can play on the train, but so many mobile games require me to play PvP or invest 100 hours to get decent items

What is a waifu game?

Basically a game based on overly sexualized female characters, with the goal of having a simulated pretend-relationship with them

The characters would often make remarks about how important the player is to them, how happy they are to see them, etc...

The goal is to attract teenagers or young adults who want to be in a relationship but fail to attract any partner. The "waifu" serves as a substitution, at least in the most basic sense

It is remarkably depressing, because it's basically exploiting young men's loneliness and desire for love to make tons of money.

Some games actually label themselves "waifu simulator" or similar

Ah, I think I've seen ads for games like that. When the ad prominently features a woman with gigantic boobs and a low cut top I just move on. I didn't realize I was missing out on an entire genre of video games...
