1:09 PM
...and we are past 50k question! Drop the balloons and roll out the free car!

Anonymous
lol.

Anonymous
As you might be able to tell, I am really bored right now...

1:31 PM
maybe in the time you are bored, you can tidy up your antiquated worldviews
"All that's happened - they've run out of things to victimise themselves over so they've dug up more stuff." <- this is the most ridicolous sentence that has ever come out of your fingers.
two dudes talking about catcalling being not that bad
or "Equality has existed for quite a considerable amount of time in most 1st world countries now."
yeah, right

Anonymous
You're really telling me that saying "hello" to a lady is catcalling?

Anonymous
And my worldviews are wrong?

Anonymous
And you're really going to tell me 3rd wave feminism isn't mostly filled with people trying to be a victim?

no, hello isn't catcalling. and yes, I have other views about 3rd wave feminism

Anonymous
Well then.

1:38 PM
here, look at this

Anonymous
I never said catcalling isn't a problem, in fact I said that catcalling is a problem.

Anonymous
But saying hello isn't catcalling, yet somehow you're saying I am promoting catcalling.

Anonymous
Well you're not saying it, you're implying it.

no, I'm not.

Anonymous
Yes you are.

Anonymous
1:39 PM
two dudes talking about catcalling being not that bad

Anonymous
I never said it wasn't a bad thing, or not that bad. I said it is a problem because it is.

Anonymous
But saying hello to another human is not catcalling, no matter the reason you're saying hello to them.

Anonymous
Saying hello to someone because you think they're attractive is not a bad thing.

Anonymous
Or maybe in 2018 it is.

Anonymous
And if it is then 2018 can take it's political correctness and fuck off.

Anonymous
1:39 PM
Because I won't conform to it.

"Morons. Yes ban people from indicating that they find you hot. "

Anonymous
Yeah, why should that be bannable?

Anonymous
Wolf whistling is rude I agree.

Anonymous
But it shouldn't be banned.

this for me says "cat calling equals telling other people 'I find you hot'"
but it's much more than that

Anonymous
1:41 PM
Well Tom, if you're not implying things then I mustn't be either.

Anonymous
You can't say "I'm not implying anything" but then twist that and use the same thing against me.

Anonymous
That's pretty hypocritical whether you agree with me or not.

okay, fair enough
then you should stay consistent
either catcalling is bad or it isn't

Anonymous
Well, I never said it wasn't bad.

Anonymous
But I refuse to fall into this trap of indicating you find someone hot is a bad thing.

1:42 PM
you can't say it's bad and then 5 seconds later say, "people shouldn't victimise themselves"

Anonymous
That is fucking ridiculous. How would anyone ever have any kind of relationship if they did not find the person attractive in the first place?

Anonymous
Well, people shouldn't victimise themselves. Saying hello isn't catcalling.

when someone ridicules me and asserts his power over me, s/he victimises me

Anonymous
I never said that catcalling was not a problem, it for sure is.

and it's not I who victimises myself

Anonymous
1:44 PM
But once again like 3rd wave feminism, people are taking it too far.

Anonymous
Here's an anecdote for you about this whole 3rd wave feminism thing.

It's like if I were to say: "stop whining about your anxiety. stop victimising yourself!"

Anonymous
I was on the bus the other day, I was getting off at the same stop as a young lady, we were on the upper deck, we both walked towards the stairs at the same time and I said "after you"

Anonymous
And she turned around and screamed at me and said "I do not need your permission to go first you sexist fuck"

Anonymous
Tell me how on Earth that is reasonable...

1:45 PM
It isn't, it really isn't

Anonymous
That is a prime example of how far 3rd wave feminism is going.

no, it's not

Anonymous
Cannot let a lady off the bus before you because it's sexist?

Anonymous
I've had the same experiences with women and doors.

it's a prime example of an asshole

Anonymous
1:46 PM
Women claiming to be "feminists"

Anonymous
Yet screaming at me for holding a door open for them.

Anonymous
Well, maybe so Tom but it's funny how in every situation these people are "proud feminists"

so?
I know a ton of feminists who would never do something like that

Anonymous
Well, in my personal experiences 3rd wave feminism is people looking to be a victim.

and I bet you did not talk a second longer with these people after they supposedly screamed at you

Anonymous
1:47 PM
You cannot take the personal experience away from me whether you agree with my opinion or not.

Anonymous
Well Tom, a few of these people went to my school and claimed to be proud feminists so I knew some of them were proud feminists prior to the situation.

Anonymous
This lady on the bus didn't tell me she was a feminist, but she had some pins from some kind of talks, etc on her bag.

Anonymous
So I made the assumption.

Anonymous
Either way, whether you agree with my view or not, that is my personal experiences with 3rd wave feminism.

Anonymous
You don't have to agree with me, but considering my experiences It's not bright for feminism in this situation, is it?

Anonymous
1:51 PM
Forgive me if I am archaic but I was raised that holding a door open, opening a car door, letting a lady go first is just gentlemanly etiquette yet in 2018, why does it feel like that kind of behaviour is frowned upon?

Anonymous
And it may not have personally happened to you, but I bet you know more people than me that a similar thing has happened to because I know lots of people who have had the same experiences with "feminists"

Anonymous
How many people does it have to happen before we blame it on feminists rather than "assholes"

Anonymous
?

Anonymous
1 million?

Anonymous
10 million unique cases? Where do you draw the distinction between "assholes" and feminists?

2:04 PM
maybe you should just stop holding doors..

Anonymous
Well, maybe so but as I told you, I was raised in a way that indicates it is a gentlemanly act to hold a door open especially for a woman.

Anonymous
It's like... Giving your seat up for a woman. Or I don't know, letting them go first.

Anonymous
If you actually think doing any of those things is a bad thing then I think you're the one with a problem not me.

Anonymous
shrugs

2:22 PM
what I find really weird is this. you have this set of anecdotes, but have not read a book on feminism or know a prominent figure or engaged yourself with this issue in another way although you say yourself it is a good thing on other occasions
I wonder if you could tell me right off the bat what the difference between 2nd, 3rd and 4th wave feminism is

Anonymous
No, I probably couldn't. But why does that mean I am not allowed an opinion? I am not asking anyone to agree with me, I'm not standing up and saying I advocate against or for feminism.

Anonymous
I'm just talking, on the Internet, in a chat room about whatever comes to my head. Whether it's incorrect or not.

well, isn't that a healthy attitude

Anonymous
All I know is that woman having a vote = good. Men & woman having equal leave when they have a child = good.

I'm a person as well

Anonymous
2:26 PM
Women getting paid the same as men = good.

Anonymous
I don't need to read a book to know that.

Anonymous
I also don't need to read a book to know that saying hello isn't catcalling

Anonymous
Nor do I need to read a book to know that holding a door for a woman isn't sexist.

cool, but life and discrimination are a bit more layered than this ;)

Anonymous
Maybe so.

Anonymous
2:27 PM
But can you seriously tell me holding a door for a woman is sexist? As I said, if you think that, you're the one with a problem not me.

Anonymous
I don't research society, politics because we're all fcked and it doesn't make a difference. My opinion is very minute and means quite literally *nothing no matter how much research I do.

Anonymous
And I don't care to turn into some kind of media addict where I get up and argue with people on the world stage.

Anonymous
I live in my bubble, I have opinions about things, they might be incorrect but yours might be incorrect to.

wrt the door situation, I certainly don't think so, no.

Anonymous
At the end of the day if my opinions are wrong I have to deal with the consequences, not you.

Anonymous
2:29 PM
It's not like I'm going to commit a mass-genocide with my incorrect opinions so they shouldn't impact your life or anyone elses.

but I wouldn't condemn an entire movement that has rights to billions(!) of women just because some women screamed at me on a bus

Anonymous
It's not my fault someone disagrees with me, is it?

and another women screamed at me somewhere else
well, you opinions reflect in your actions and your actions matter
for instance your vote
but that's a whole 'nother topic

Anonymous
Well, I disagree that my actions matter.

Anonymous
I'm just a small number that makes up a bigger number.

Anonymous
2:32 PM
I'm not hurting anyone with my potentially incorrect opinions, so what is the problem? None of my actions are harmful.

Anonymous
Sure you could say that someone might be offended by my actions/opinion but that is there problem, it's not my problem.

okay...
if you are offended, that's your problem

@TomK. language!

HAH!
I knew you were lurking
I was gonna delete that anyway
I was just trying to make a point

Anonymous
Well Tom, I have to deal with people saying offensive stuff, so why shouldn't everyone else have to?

2:33 PM
@J.J the reasonable way to deal with unreasonable people is...
to just walk away

Anonymous
There's no one rule for one and another rule for another, well there shouldn't be.

because that would be a much nicer place to live in?

Anonymous
Yes but it's never going to happen, is it?

Anonymous
Never.

"What a strange game, the only way to win is not to play"

Anonymous
2:34 PM
It will never, ever, ever, ever happen.

*sigh

@J.J if they say that "My leg hurts, and I didn't want to delay you... "
;p

Anonymous
You really think it will happen, Tom?

Anonymous
Truthfully do you think we can accomplish that?

totally true in my case. My ankle's probably going to kill me when I'm old.

2:35 PM
no, but that's no reason why it can't get gradually better

Anonymous
I agree. But as I said, my actions don't matter.

Anonymous
Nor does my opinion.

well, they matter for yourself at least

Anonymous
So why should I invest so much of myself in something?

Anonymous
I'd rather just have my opinion that if someone disagrees with then they disagree with it.

Anonymous
2:36 PM
I don't feel overly strongly about feminism, I think this wave of feminism is ridiculous, that's all.

sigh

Anonymous
WHICH ALL STEMS FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE BY THE WAY :P

yeah
I was just gonna say

Anonymous
But I never said I was right, did I?

Anonymous
That's the difference.

2:37 PM
check and mate
wow, now you got me

Anonymous
I could be wrong, I might be wrong, I probably am wrong about a lot of things.

Anonymous
But it's not a massive part of my life, I feel how I feel and I talk about it if I feel like talking about it, I won't invest myself into something I don't feel very strongly about.

okay...
I tried my best
I'll stop now
go read a newspaper
bye

Anonymous
Oh he's gone..

Anonymous
welps

Anonymous
2:43 PM
@JourneymanGeek I didn't understand any of your jokes by the way.

Anonymous
Sorry :(

@J.J I was serious

Anonymous
About what?

Anonymous
I mean, I didn't get the leg thing.

Anonymous
Hah.

2:46 PM
basically turn it around and make them feel bad

Anonymous
Oh.

Anonymous
Language!

Anonymous
(Sorry, I had to do it :p)

@J.J heh.
You're only allowed to do it if you get the reference ;p

Anonymous
I don't.

2:49 PM
Its from one of the avengers movies

Anonymous
I see.

Anonymous
I am not into that stuff.

3:40 PM
For what it's worth @J.J - I'm with you on a lot of this. I absolutely will not read any newspaper, I don't trust any source I have not done some background checks on, and I hate fads... But I believe in being courteous, nice, kind and gentlemanly. To all, until they show I shouldn't
2
This means I also hold doors open for men, not just women. And I give up my seat for anyone who may need it more than me. If anyone has a problem with that - that is their issue

Anonymous
@RoryAlsop Hah, thanks. Yeah, it's all pointless - all the newspapers bend things that's how they make money. "Academic" sources do the same thing as evident by "pink tax"

Anonymous
And I too hold door open for men, I guess one thing I will admit to.

Anonymous
If the man is really far away I will close the door.

Anonymous
If a pretty woman was really far away, I'd hold it.

Anonymous
I must admit to that, I've done it on multiple occasions

Anonymous
3:53 PM
The seat thing I agree with

Anonymous
Completely.

Anonymous
11:35 PM
Heh, I love this song.
