Yep he lacks charisma, there's shit public opinion about him and he's spending a lot of state money on himself, which I don't get since they have so much money from companies
But I understand that some Singaporeans don't like foreigners, if you look how the system is built, they're almost second rank compared to the PRs. They enjoy almost the same benefits yet don't have the same duties.
@JourneymanGeek that's the main issue I think, you attract foreign talent, but that attraction of foreign tallent should be leveraged to increase local talent
@RоryMcCune Morning. Iced up car this morning - but it's beautiful. Transitioned to summer clothing today. My winder coat is in the attic. It's getting too warm for long sleeves
@RоryMcCune but slowed down 10% to sound extra weeeeird Caaaarrrrrrlllllll
@LucasKauffman Perth is quite mellow, Melbourne is like the UK, only rainier, Sydney was okay, Brisbane and the Gold Coast were crazy hot...however as I just wore surf shorts there I coped. I also hadn't grown as much thermal insulation at that point
vessel.com <-- new youtube competitor giving away 1 year free access for sign-up over the next 3 days (CC @AviD as they have College humour as a channel)
well hell, I'll sign up, even though I likely will never see them again - but at least it will help them get a ridiculous amount of VC funding for a pointless site, so I'm in.
@LucasKauffman sure that's what I do, don't like ads so I block 'em but then I give cash to the people making the content 'cause I like it and would like them to make more :)
although it's a great business model, I want to have a company like that as well, I basically pass on a transaction and take a small percentage of that transaction
@AviD exactly I contribute to webcomics like Gunnerkrigg and Questionable content and they get a fair bit of cash from it now, makes it sustainable for them
@AviD indeed, the lots of small monthly donations model is good though, as it means you can give a small amount personally (e.g. $1/month) and have it add up to a sustatainable income reasonably easily
@AviD well there's some companies in the market already, so would need to establish if they work or not and what they're doing wrong if not. So for example pledgie.com
@RоryMcCune Wow, have they got serious about broadband now? When I lived in north of UK, if you got BT Infinity, you got ~80 Mbps down, ~20 up. If lucky. If not... 2.
@Gone when I was still in college, our student organization's lab had such a fast connectivity it maxed out my 7200rpm disk drive when dowloading ubuntu ISOs
