Q: Are there any Gods who have raped?

ZeusboyI was watching a movie in which the Greek God Zeus rapes a Queen for rebelling against Gods and heaven by pretending to be her husband (taking her husbands form). So, I got curious. The modern definition of this word in the West and India should be considered. Mention the quote from the script...

Q: Did Lord Vishnu rape tulsi in her previous birth?

Insideplantshttp://www.jaisiyaram.com/blog/religion/18145-when-gods-rape-effect-of-hindu-mythology-on-today-s-society-3-nov-14.html There once was an evil demon called Jalandhar. Q: Can I have a damaged Bilva tree at my home?

TezzSuppose that I have a Bilva tree at my house, and it got damaged due to some reasons. What should I do to it? Bilva trees are considered sacred in Hindu scriptures, and also mostly used in the worship of Lord Shiva. For eg In Skanda Purana it is stated that every part of Bilva tree is associated...

4:49 AM
Sure you will learn. But learn from good people.

Of course, Don't worry.
How is it going btw ?

@AnkitSharma @BhargavRao @SwiftPushkar @Pandya @TriyugiNarayanMani Please vote for this one.. hinduism.stackexchange.com/tags/shiva/synonyms

@NogShine Done.

@Pandya Cool. Thanks. It reduces the work of retag everytime.
@Hinduismbot @Pandya with this question, what happens to the personal advice question asked few days ago?

5:04 AM

Q: Do the scriptures mandate that the devotee regularly visit a temple?

shreyas1599Is there any mention in the scriptures to regularly visit temples?

@NogShine do you mean to this question?

@Pandya Yes.
and why is this still displayed as ?

@NogShine well, it sounds framed in the way that looking personal advice.

@Pandya yes, but what about three votes on it? Why did user vote on it and asked a new question again?

May be he is too desperate to get the answer

5:15 AM
@NogShine oh! the questions before synonymous created needs to be updated. Done.

@TheLittleNaruto AFAIK it should be done when the question is deleted. It is not the same user. One user edited and wrote that question like the new one without OP's intent and voted to reopen the question. Now, there is a new question by him. They should wait till it is closed or deleted. It is a fast move.

@NogShine New question is posted by Tezz who didn't vote for closing. Whome are your referring to?

@Pandya not close votes,. Reopen votes.
My guess only. You can see but don't say the name out.

@NogShine oh! How are you sure that he casted vote for reopening?
@NogShine ok. Btw, even mod can't see who voted!

@Pandya He edited the old question with exactly what is asked in the new question. As it was against the OP's intent and their intent is unknown, I rolled back the edit. Just a guess.
@Pandya yes. They can see close, reopen and delete votes though.

5:22 AM
Let me take a look at the revisions, I will consider fixing the things...
@NogShine why did you roll back?

@Pandya It is against OP's intent. If there is a comment or clarification from the OP that he was looking for that, I would not but there is nothing like that. So, I rolled back.
I left a comment under the question whether they want to know instructions, I am waiting for their reply.

@NogShine well, I think @Tezz has tried to salvage post for reopening (making suitable so that doesn't look like a personal advice).

Interestingly, Destroyer asked the same question about roll back..

And it's fine to fix the question of new commers.

@Pandya When the OP's ntent is known and there is a clarification is known, we can. In case of inactive users, we should not.

5:27 AM
That's why we have a review queue for fist posts.

@NogShine yes true

@Pandya To fix formatting etc., not to add what we think about the question. There are many edits going on without the OP's intent. So, they should be taken into consideration first.
How does Tezz know what OP thinks?

@NogShine In this case, let OP to decide whether the edit is fine or not.

@Pandya We should first know what is the intent and then edit not the other way.
If they see comments, they will know and replies and then we can edit or reopen. Otherwise it is not allowed to edit in first place.
@Pandya Such edits are not welcome. You should not edit without knowing the OP's intent and you are rolling back the edit. How is this justified?
Salvaging of post should not be done without OP's intent.
@Pandya Didn't you see the comments by Destroyer and others under the question? Only OP should clarify such things, we should not put what we think.

Q: What are the guidelines to be followed to edit a closed question to make it eligible for reopening?

Nog ShineI have a set of questions which are much related to editing closed questions. When I asked one of the moderators on the site I participate for off-topic editing guidelines, He said: See meta SE posts. There's no hard rules for editing off-topic questions. If a post is useful to community,...

It is not allowed according to meta post. @Pandya ^
The reopen is not justified. How did you know what OP thinks?

@NogShine Presently I fixed that old question and closed new question as duplicate. I'll refer it later, entering into university, will discuss later.

5:36 AM
It was an advice question totally and the edit is against the intent.

@NogShine Look like its complete

@Pandya The old question doesn't deserve reopening. It is not what they asked.
@TriyugiNarayanMani Well, same question, how do we know?
The OP didn't ask for instructions.
They asked whether they should leave it off or grow a new plant. Where is the instructions?

@NogShine I think you were suggesting tag synonym

@TriyugiNarayanMani Ohh. Yeah. but I am talking about the reopened question.

@NogShine Let me check that please
1
Q: Having damaged Bilva tree at home?

Aham BrahmasmiI have a old Bilva Tree at my home and it got damaged after Varda cyclone, it is not growing after that. I have tried every thing to restore it. Are there any instructions whether one should keep the damaged tree as it is or are there methods on how to replace a damaged Bilva tree?

this one

5:44 AM
@TriyugiNarayanMani Yes, the edit is against the OP's intent actually.

Now you have edited

It is a personal advice question.
@TriyugiNarayanMani Yeah. I tried keeping what is asked in the question originally.
Instructions were not asked or methods for replanting the tree.

@NogShine Yes

I don't want rollback war. So, I edited what is asked originally.
The OP is not responding to the comments but changing profile pictures daily. :D
lol
If there is a single yes or no, there would be no problem.

@NogShine :)
@NogShine yes

5:51 AM
Your question is asking scriptural mention of the statement made by Chinna Jeeyar swami. But in the answer you are not addressing the question at all. This is not an answer. — Sarvabhouma 12 secs ago
What do you think people? ^^

@NogShine Yes this is not an answer.

Did that upvote come from this room? :D

@NogShine Never

@TriyugiNarayanMani I am just kidding. :D

@NogShine Knew that :)

GOod mOrnInG 2 aLL.

Bye for now guys. Talk to you later..

@NogShine Bye

@Pandya Nothing to discuss more. Now, it is reopened and I also edited something. I think it looks fine for now.

@Pandya why have you closed my question as duplicate?.. when I asked that question, that question was in closed form.. I edited and cited reopen vote... but it doesn't get reopened... I waited for a day and then asked...
.
@Pandya so logically you should close that already closed question as duplicate because it got reopened latter after I posted question..

6:30 AM
@Tezz Hiii - How are you , whts going on :-)

Off topic: Do we have any Hindu users from outside India and Nepal ?
on this site
Missed

@TheLittleNaruto Yes lots of

Very nice

@TheLittleNaruto u asked out side of india and nepal and i though outside of india from nepal 😁

with outside India, I meant their origin is also not in India
@SwiftPushkar lol
@Swift You're into Software ?

6:35 AM
@TheLittleNaruto yes one of our mod is from USA .

But Maya is form of Shiva himself if you understand it's true meaning you'll not be seeing it as Maya anymore.
@SwiftPushkar Nice Man
How can we check who all mods are there in Hinduism SE

@TheLittleNaruto Yes , Most of my knowledge about MAYA is from Upanishads and the way Adi shankara is explaining it , but puranas like Bhagvta is also in great deal talking about MAYA.

@SwiftPushkar Hmm But you're totally correct.
Just that Maya is not a separate entity

@TheLittleNaruto But haven't read any Tantra or Agama book yet, so not much aware what these are saying abt. MAYA and how they are explaining it . Most scriptures are only describing it as Power of Lord Vishnu. At least vaishnava puranas. And the related texts.

I see
Even I didn't read much
But whatever I read so far, seems completely logical
If you have time, you can start studying this book Shiva Sutra. At least read initial 40 Pages.

6:43 AM
@TheLittleNaruto Yes , We can feel mayas presence presence every second , its how we do things in wrong way , i mean doing things that are harmful or not takes us towards our own true identity.

As you studied many books already, for you it won't take too much time.

@TheLittleNaruto haha no , i am still a novice , not even close to apprentice.
OUR true identity is Shiv ..
Satyam Shivam Sundaram ..

@SwiftPushkar Man you can't say that. You already know too much
@SwiftPushkar Yes!

@TheLittleNaruto Its maya which is forcing us to forget this fact , that actually we are pure energy in the highest living form .. HUMANS
I mean our true self or what actually we are exactly , we mostly live in imaginary world of maya .

Yes right
But it's not imaginary

6:50 AM
@TheLittleNaruto yes , maya is also imaginary , its not true , Self or atman , Brahman is the only absolute truth , and that is what we are .. Thou are that ... Its us .. just unaware of our true identity .

Based on my knowledge I can't put points to proof myself.
I need to study more

@TheLittleNaruto Our body is not our true self nor our mind ... our atman is ..
@TheLittleNaruto haha yes , ALl the Best , read the scriptures surely when you will get time .. BTW i am not at all a expert .. I am just like u too. little tiny specs of knowledge is only with me only .

@SwiftPushkar But this body is important as well, it's a vessel which can be used to reach to our trueself.
@SwiftPushkar Still that tiny specs of knowledge is incomparable to what I have.
I got nothing xD

@TheLittleNaruto Yes scriptures are not denying this fact , but only telling us that we should go for absolute truth i.e focus our attentation more on inward things rather than outward approach , and use materialistic things wisely , And only then we will be able to reach to ultimate truth , its not much possible with remaining attached to all our desires.
@TheLittleNaruto yes the body is the tool , with which , by scriptures , and our wisdom we have to reach moksha , its not possible without body. but the body is not absolute truth because its perishable .

Yes, so why one has to come to mayarupi world ?
if without body we can't achieve that,

7:02 AM
@TheLittleNaruto Scriptures say that , its because of our past karmas , Jiva has to take birth again & again in this Mayarupi sansara until he completely escapes it . Human form is the most helpful form in achieving moksha.

and this body has to come to mayrupi world
then why it is imaginary

@TheLittleNaruto No we will remain in our subtle form forever in the form of pure energy , as one of driving force of this universe ony after MOKSHA .
until that no escape from body .. Human .. Animal .. Worm .. Virus etc. Depending upon karma

You said, Maya is imaginary world, right ?
You also said, without body we can't reach to our trueself.
and to get this body, we need to come to mayarupi world
then how come it is imaginary ?

@TheLittleNaruto Yes , its created by lord to delude jivas , its existence is real but Maya is not the supreme truth , its imaginary because we can overcome it with our efforts . Maya is imagination of lord .. but it cant delude him .

All I am saying is, it's not "imaginary"
Its existence is real.

7:11 AM
@TheLittleNaruto YEAH , the views of various schools are different , and i am just telling you abt. it as general interpretation. Given by shankaracharya in his primary books like novice for me , but need to study more abot. it in detail .

@SwiftPushkar I am sorry I think I didn't put my question clearly.

@TheLittleNaruto Scriptures is a big play of words , lots of confusing terms and definitions r there and i am still struggling. ...

But anyway I need to study more

@NogShine only Pandya would have been enough :p

@SwiftPushkar Read Shiva Sutra once, not too much but only starting 40 pages at least .

7:14 AM
@TheLittleNaruto Yup , me too ..
@TheLittleNaruto Yeah know abt. them , i think rohit asked few questions on them .

@SwiftPushkar I know him.

@BhargavRao hii

who is that

7:18 AM
@TheLittleNaruto Our previous Mod .. Ankit Sharma .. Movies and TV expert.

@SwiftPushkar Oh!

@BhargavRao He is last resort. That's why I pinged him last. Sorry of disturbed

We had one friend in our college with the same name, we used to call him "Antic"

@NogShine lol nopes. Just found it weird :p

@Tezz No, that's not the way. A question which is asked first will be chosen as original and the question was not closed. It was put 'on hold'. Questions can be closed as dupes of dupe questions.

7:26 AM
He was a real pain to deal with, he used to wear whole blanket in winter when he needed to go to coaching classes.

@BhargavRao if you people vote, there is no need of a ping of mod.
BTW, I am the first non mod user to get that "Synonymizer" badge

@SwiftPushkar I see. Well..we can't help then. ^^
@NogShine Congratulations Man

@NogShine If there was the good ol' [squatting] tag, I could have voted to synonymize [squat] ;)

Q: Do the scriptures mandate that the devotee regularly visit a temple?

shreyas1599Is there any mention in the scriptures to regularly visit temples?

lol my meta question got dv ed.

7:29 AM
@BhargavRao Temple related question . ⬆️

Quite sure that it's a duplicate

Why are users trying to put what they think? ^^

@NogShine don't go to stretch it, just meh and move forward. It's the internet.

wait for me ...

7:30 AM
all failed, instructions reggarding that , this, dispose methods are okay etc., etc., Do they have any Divya Srishti to know the intent of the OP?
@BhargavRao Well, it is the trick to answer the question.
It seems that they have an answer to disposal methods and adding that into the question.

Pandya should have reverse duped hinduism.stackexchange.com/questions/24567/…
This question is better composed

@BhargavRao Meh, see the above conversation, the user edited and cast reopened the old question too and asked a new question now. It is not even "closed".

Oops, so there's more context.
Anyway, bit held up with project submissions. I'll be back later \o.

@TheLittleNaruto Islam has better stats than us.

9:23 AM
@NogShine So what
Is Islam still in beta ?

@TheLittleNaruto if stats are the bench mark for graduation, why didn't Islam graduate?
@TheLittleNaruto Yes.

Oh
What all criteria to be passed to graduate ?

There are many other issues than Area 51 stats. Like Self governing, Community spirit, well documented help center, good policy on tags, providing good content etc., There are many of them.
@TheLittleNaruto Even if you go by area 51 stats, we need to get 90% of traffic fro msearch engine but we are getting 87% of traffic.

@NogShine I see
What if this rate continues forever ?

and constructive meta discussions. I can say without any doubt that they are not happening.

9:28 AM
We'll never be graduated ?
@NogShine Oh

@TheLittleNaruto Which rate? The CM team will observe things especially the discussion tagged questions. So, only they can say when we will graduate.

Oh
Man! This cough syrup is really hard, Because of it I keep sleeping

I don't want to be offensive, but dafuq is this: islam.stackexchange.com/a/45223

Sachin BahukhandiGood evening folks. I just got a bit interested in our epic The Ramayana. Turns out our renowned scholar Mr. DevDutt Pattnaik disclosed that there are many forms of Ramayana. Q: Has Swami Vivekananda discussed regarding the refutation of Yoga Darshana in Vedanta Sutras?

PandyaFor many times I have this question in my mind. Finally I (believes in both) concluded that Yoga provides the method/way of mediation and Upanisha...

Q: How did Vishnu become Shaligrama Stone?

Anurag SinghShaligrama is the most sacred stone for Vaishnavas. There is a story thus of Tulasi cursing Vishnu to become a stone when He polluted Her Chastity to kill Her husband. What is the story of Vishnu becoming stone Shaligrama.

@Hinduismbot Bad question.
@Hinduismbot Why do need to provide speeches praising Tulsidas? @SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury It is a bad question IMO. The question asked there is more important. It is talking about Mahadeva word. Tulsidas topic should not be taken into light there.

5:21 PM
Ik it would be a bad question lol
I am highly affected if one acharya gives a negative opinion of another acharya.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury So, what are you going to do?

@NogShine Nothing lol

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury There is nothing wrong in having a negative opinion of another acharya. And who is the other acharya you are talking about?

@NogShine Chinna Jeeyar Swamy on Tulsidas for an example. Another example is Madhvacharya on Adi Shankaracharya

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury There are many things in the Ramcharitmanas which are not found in the original Ramayana or the Puranas. They are from some modern works. So, saying interpolations is not wrong.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury You have a wrong definition of an acharya. Tulsidas is not an acharya. What else do you expect from a person who is a dualist rather than refuting opponent's views? Advaita and Dvaita are two opposite philosophies. It is obvious. No need to worry.

5:27 PM
Yes but the word is too heavy. Nvm I think the question was too bad @NogShine
@NogShine I don't like personal attacks.
@NogShine I am deleting the question.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury It is not personal attack at all. Where do you find the story of Kakabhushanda, Ravana coming to the swayamvara, Banasura coming to Sita's swayamvara? Nala, Neela brothers? More importantly, Rama consecrating Rameshwara lingam? They are not present in the original Ramayana by Valmiki. If someone adds something into the texts which are not present in the original work, they are called interpolations and its authenticity is questioned.
Suppose how do you feel when someone comes and say that you are not real and you are seeing illusions and says God and worship them? Propose an absurd philosophy according to you? And you have firm belief that you are very much real? What is your reaction? @SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury

@NogShine Bunk the topic lol. I was overwhelmed with emotions.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Now, someone will cast undelete votes on your question. :D

@NogShine Ik. I understand the sentiments. That's why I don't like dualists and non-dualists fighting.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury First of all, you should know the slogan of JET (Jeeyar Educational Trust).. it is present in their website.
It is "Worship your own.. respect others".
So, there is no negative opinion on any others.

5:35 PM
@NogShine Oh...I haven't checked the site. I only checked their YouTube a/c.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Okay.. the question which I answered yesterday about Shiva Praising rama, you should read that article completely.

> You may remember our githa jyothi, suthras ‘worship your own..respect all’. If this is understood, then there won’t be any wicked thoughts like this.

@NogShine huh??

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury That was the conclusive statement given by HH statement when a person asked persons who worship only Shiva are happy and worshipping Rama and Krishna are sorrow. Why is this.
> Is it true that worshipping Rama/Krishna bring difficulties and worshipping Siva would bring happiness and properity?

5:40 PM
Oh...
Btw I did read your answer

This is the question posted. As a reply, they said that all the devatas including Shiva came to earth and praised Shiva and explained what was quoted by SK and I answered and as a conclusion the above statement is done.
If one have love towards Shiva, they can worship him but they should not spread woring ideas and wrong stories. <-- This is also said.

I wish ISKCON learned something from JET😒

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury About this statement? What do you think?

@NogShine Its a good reply

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ohh thanks..
btw, did you listen to the viseo I shared? It was in the presence of Sringeri Peethadhipati.

5:45 PM
Welcome :) Btw is the site jetusa.org?
@NogShine Nah, but I will soon.
Maybe tmr afternoon after lunch
@NogShine Is Jayendra Swami a good friend of Chinna Jeeyar Swamy? :)

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury No problem. listen to it after your boards. Are they over?

@NogShine Almost. I have a huge gap before giving some minor exams

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Kanchi Peethadhipati Jayendra Saraswati?There is no enemity with anyone. :)

@NogShine Lol they seem to have a good rapport with each other😍

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury What did you find???

5:50 PM
@NogShine In a YouTube video, they were laughing on stage together
Though I didn't understand what they were saying. Language problem.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury God!! then there is a good rapport with everyone.
You should learn Telugu or ask me. Swamiji's speeches are not like regular ones.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury which video? I can help.

I wish ISKCONites were like that. They are so cold with me.
@NogShine Wait, I'm giving

Q: Does srimad bhagvatam and Vishnu puranas mention shaligram worship or tulasi-jalandhar myth?

Anubhav JhaThe story of tulsi cursing Lord vishnu? Also is the story of shaligram only found in non vaishnava puranas?

@NogShine Those were from JET world bhajans
I gotta admit Chinna Jeeyar Swamy is a good singer XD

5:56 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury it is a common thing here. They don't post hate comments.

His "Jai Shriman Narayana" was excellent😍

@Hinduismbot You will get downvotes.

@NogShine Yeah I'll be one of the downvoters lol

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Hmm

I wish He spoke English more often
Btw I have a question.

5:59 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury there are videos explaining Tiruppavai in English.
on JET WORLD YouTube channel.

Suppose I become a Sri Vaishnavite. Now I can't worship other deities right? But then there are other deities in my home. Who is gonna worship them after I become a Sri Vaishnavite? I mean, I can't discard them, can I?
@NogShine Yeah, I think I did see one.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I have no knowledge about this. You should ask a Jeeyar only. They will only answer your doubts properly.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury YESSS

@NogShine Lol OK. Maybe I will ask a question how prana prathishta can be removed.
@NogShine Lol
But how on the Earth am I gonna meet a Jeeyar in Bengal??

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury it is on the occasion of Jayendra Saraswati completing 60 years as Kanchi Peethadhipati.

@NogShine Oh, well...YouTube should give English subtitles for every video😐

6:07 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury youtube's auto generated subs are terrible.

@NogShine Lmao
Does JET World have a branch in Bengal?

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury not at the moment.

@NogShine Sad
Are there any Sri Vaishnava mathams in Bengal?

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury You can contact them and ask your doubts which you have asked me and Keshav in the past. You might get a reply.

Good idea
And is it true that Pancha Samskaram hurts?

6:11 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Totally false.

@NogShine lol ik it. I am gonna kill that guy.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Who said it!!? 😲😲

Btw...can nothing be done about SK. He is hurting my sentiments in every question.
@NogShine A Sri Vaishnavite friend who is one of the greatest idiots in the world

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury ignore such questions. You know what truth is. Just have faith in them. That is enough.

@NogShine I know but its so difficult to resist

6:15 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ohh! if there are Sri Vaishnavas in your place, there will be mathams also.

Words like "forgery" is too heavy and harsh
@NogShine Lol no. He's an internet friend.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury If something from this is done, flag. That's enough.

But he still doesn't stop. I have flagged him multiple times.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Are they declined?

@NogShine My last flag was. That was the only declined one.

6:18 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ohh! then be careful while flagging but one declined flag is not much to worry.

@NogShine Man, this site needs harmony. Too much fights.
2

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Agreed completely.
+1

After all we're Hindus!
On the other hand, should we flag answers by people who want to convert Hindus into Christianity?

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Thanks for remembering. Do not flag as Rude. They are trolls. Just flag as NAA.
if they speak ill about God, then only use R/A flags.

WTH IS WRONG WITH SK??? He's taunting me for deleting the Tulsidas question.

6:24 PM
and when they post such posts, don't engage in the comments.

Why can't the a/c be removed permanently?
