@NogShine went quite well. (I counted just one mistake, but I might have made a few more).

@BhargavRao nice to know.

My answer here is also downvoted. But I don't think that the downvoters know anything about Telugu culture. Some should really think while downvoting good posts.

5:18 PM
@NogShine Rickross said that translation was of Aurobindo. And Swami Vivekananda also says it means Shudras can hear it.
@NogShine I upvoted it

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury and I read your question about Neo Vedanta. The term is there and not a derogatory term.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Only upvote if you can understand and find it useful. No pressure. :)

@NogShine Who said its a derogatory term?

I was busy while writing the answer and didn't include all the castes which do burial. The burial in Telugu states is a quite common practice.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I'm just saying. Some may feel that it is a bad word and downvote. Who knows?
@KrishnaShweta I am too.Just had dinner a while back. Did you eat too?

@NogShine Sectarianism was a derogatory term IMO

@NogShine My dinner time is 8:00 :D

5:23 PM
Why is the word "Neo-Vedanta" frowned upon?
@KrishnaShweta So early!
Now its confirmed: the downvoter is downvoting at random

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I didn't say but some may feel.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Yeah. :D

@NogShine But why would some feel like that?

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury because it is a new term. Some may feel that they are separated?
@KrishnaShweta That is snack time?
;P

@NogShine Do "Neo-Vedantins" call themselves "Neo-Vedantins"?

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I don't know but don't post a question. :D

@NogShine Well my friend Arkaprabha finds it derogatory.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Isn't he your brother?

@NogShine :)

You are good at chatting.

@NogShine Well brothers yeah but not my blood lol
Brother from another mother lol
Well, he doesn't chat here

Still you are brothers. Step brothers. Half brother. Any thing :)

@NogShine Lol yes
Btw have you heard of Bhaskaracharya and his daughter Leelavati?
Oh nvm. It's not a question related to Hinduism so can't ask here

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury No. Who are they?

@NogShine Bhaskara if I'm not wrong was a famous Indian mathematician. There's a episode on him in the Upanishad Ganga series by Chinmaya Mission.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ohh! Some people also say that he is the inventor of zero and not Aryabhatta

@NogShine Lol really?

5:35 PM
Yes.

He was good in astrology I think
Is the Chanakya question supposed to be off-topic? @NogShine

Bhāskara (c. 600 ā€“ c. 680) (commonly called Bhaskara I to avoid confusion with the 12th century mathematician Bhāskara II) was a 7th-century mathematician, who was the first to write numbers in the Hindu decimal system with a circle for the zero, and who gave a unique and remarkable rational approximation of the sine function in his commentary on Aryabhatta's work. This commentary, Āryabhaį¹Ä«yabhāį¹£ya, written in 629 CE, is among the oldest known prose works in Sanskrit on mathematics and astronomy. He also wrote two astronomical works in the line of Aryabhata's school, the MahābhāskarÄ«ya and the...
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I don't know. I din't close vote. But I am thinking he is related more to history than religion.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury and what about his daughter Leelavati?
I haven't watched Upanishad Ganga serial.

@NogShine Chanakya believed varna was decided by the basis of birth. There's an episode on him in Upanisad Ganga too, where he makes Chandragupta Maurya, a Shudra by birth, the king

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Tamas Guna predominated people can't understand esoteric meanings of Vedas. Vedic Samhitas are terse codified verses needed proper mind power to understand them. But other scriptures are relatively easy to understand.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury then why did he advise the king Chandra Gupta Maurya and made him a great ruler?

5:40 PM
@NogShine Well, in the episode, Lilavati was supposed to get married but her marriage was cancelled at the last minute due to inauspicious timings. Bhaskara's astrological predictions didn't see any inauspicious timings coming.
@NogShine I don't have much idea about their relationship
@TheDestroyer Well, I'm a good example of that lol

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury it was chanakya's mastermind which played a key role.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury No. It's not like that. You need to cross 18 and more to understand Vedas properly.

@NogShine I guess so. There was an episode where Chanakya was scolding Chandragupta Maurya

and there are two bhaskaras who are Mathematicians

@TheDestroyer Yeah. I'll study the Bhagavad Gita, Vishnu Purana and the Srimad Bhagavatam for now in details.

5:44 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Yes. But do understand esoteric meanings of some stories.

@TheDestroyer Do you think I should try some Upanishads?
I mean the mukhya Upanishads
@NogShine Bhaskara 1 and Bhaskara 2?

yes

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Maybe you should wait for sometime. You can now read Ramayana, Mahabharta and Puranas.

@TheDestroyer Well, Arkaprabha told me to read some. I downloaded some but haven't read them yet.
Btw can shishyas approach Gurus? @NogShine @TheDestroyer

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury ok. Try them. if you can understand them ok. But you are studying 11th or 12th?

5:49 PM
@TheDestroyer 11, going to be 12 in April

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I think this stage is crucial if you are trying for IIT.

@TheDestroyer No, not going for engineering. I am gonna try for Astrophysics.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Are you interested in Astronomy? You need to very good at Mathematics and physics concepts.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury But it could be bad step since Job opportunities are very less in India.

@TheDestroyer I'm yes. But I need to improve math yeah
@TheDestroyer Ik that's why Germany
Which Upanishad should I start with? Isha is short. Is it easy as well to understand?

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Yes. Isha is Samhita also.

5:59 PM
@TheDestroyer I have Shankara's commentary on it only. I need a Vishishtadvaitin commentary on it too. Do you know any? @NogShine

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I think Vedanta Desikan wrote a commentary on Isha.

@TheDestroyer Thanks. I'll check it out

Q: does rig-vedic Mitra occur in post rig-vedic works, especially epics and puranas?

S Kmitra is largely paired with varuna in rig veda but is also praised separately. vishnu takes his three steps by the laws of mitra. he is also praised as "he supports all the gods". but only the meaning "friend" or "ally" seems to have survived after rig veda.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I didn't read Upanishads.
