@NogShine That story is fake, right? I know that from the film MaayaBazaar. I read somewhere that it was just a folklore and not real.
Perhaps, I can ask a question on that.

3 hours later…
5:34 AM
@BhargavRao Yeah. I know it from Mayabazaar movie. But it might be present in some regional version of Mahabharata. Dunno.

I'll ask a question about that in a few days, then. Easiest way to find out.

"There is no mention of naming ceremony of Lakshmana Kumara" - On what basis you are claiming this..Have you studied all the scriptures? If not, Can you please mention the fact that it is not mentioned in scriptures A, B, C etc... — YDS 10 hours ago
I don't get such comments "Have you studied all the scriptures?" First of all, it is Lakshmana Kumara not Rama's brother, Duryodhana's son. Which scriptures will his story be present other than Mahabharata?
I have to write scriptures A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,M,N,O,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z. -_-

Just add an "as far as I know", and it'll be fine.
But yeah, enumerating all the scriptures is kinda pointless.

6:13 AM
what is ?
@BhargavRao Many questions are unanswered even when the answer is obvious. When someone answers with a no, then some comments pop up and flags as NAA.

6:40 AM
And those flags would be declined. :p

Yup. they were declined.

Q: Is Lord Ganesha considered same as the ultimate truth and reality (Brahman)?

Elfin forestMany Texts associate OM with cosmic creation and that OM is everything. Ganesha is associated with OM and hence known as oṃkārasvarūpa (Aum is his form). As expected a downvote on the Lakshmana Kumara answer.
So, you expect a detailed explanation of Suryodhana's son naming ceremony in Mahabharata or any scripture? There is no such thing for Abhimanyu.
you= downvoters and others not anyone in the room :)

9:50 AM
@TheLittleNaruto but I also faced the lack of acceptance and friendliness here compare to north

10:10 AM
@AnkitSharma I would say that lack of acceptance would come only if you are lacking acceptance of their custom culture and people.
I had been to almost all major cities of India. And I experienced all different cultures.
But I never faced such problems.

@TheLittleNaruto atleast two/almost three people told me that I am not welcomed in Karnataka if I don't know Kannada.
And few more such incidents.
Like a male Kannada employ telling a female employee to stick with Kannada people only and avoid north Indians

Q: What do the scriptures say about inter-caste marriage?

WallyPlease don't hijack the question with other related things like equality and caste. Only post answers with sources to scriptures that particularly talk about inter caste marriage. Sources are necessary. Don't make claims without links to sources. Cite sources with excerpts and explanation.

@AnkitSharma well... There will be some rationals . But we can't judge all of them based on few. Also like I said, in order to get respect, you at least should learn to respect their customs and cultures
And of course if possible learn the language
I see no harm in it
Even I started learning it. When I say people that I am learning kannada , it makes them happy
They talk to me nicely

What if , If I have to change states occasionally, does that means I have to learn each of there language to feel welcomed ? Why Hindi and English not enough

I am telling no one is forcing you to learn. But if you can, you should.

10:19 AM
@TheLittleNaruto Is it not better to be nice even when the person 2 doesn't know your language well.
I am from udhampur where mothertounge is dogari but still people are welcoming towards other language people and even use hindi with peopel who don't know dogari

If you were knowing India's history and specially "Indians" , you shouldn't have said that.
Hindi is not our national language
We can't impose it
Let's talk about your place only
What one person went to your place and doesn't know any of the language spoken there
How will you treat him ?
I am sure many people laugh when he will try to say anything

@TheLittleNaruto but here we have a common language "english"
@TheLittleNaruto neither did English or Kannada

Ah, the good ol' NI in B'lore debate. Bit held up now, else I could have presented the other perspective.

It's always better to be helpful to others and try to speak in common language. I picked a house where the owner of house know only English and Kannada and his wife only Hindi and Kannada but both were so well nature people, it was tough to set three way communication but they always tried there best and that won my heart

Fun stuff, more than half the population of Bangalore is immigrant population.
If the people there were unwelcoming, then logically, that wouldn't be a case.

10:28 AM
Fun fact 2: my birth city Delhi is made by only immigrants ;)

Yes, but almost all the immigrants in Delhi are from the neighboring states, who speak the same language.
If I go to Delhi and speak Kannada, they'll not understand anything. In Bangalore, you speak either Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, people will try to converse.

@BhargavRao similar not same, Punjabi, Hinayanavi and bhojpuri might sound similar but are different language
same for south, they also have common language English

Exactly, there are overlapping words between them. Once you learn a similar language, you can try to learn the others. Unlike in south, where all the 4 languages are completely different.
Yes, English has been an unifying factor in the South, because of which there are immigrants.
Tell me, what is the percentage of South Indians you find in Delhi? Even those who are present there, will have to learn Hindi to converse. I stayed there for 14 days, and a few of the Uber drivers there did not even know an iota of English.
The only thing what I really dislike is, the imposition of Hindi on South Indians. Even in the work place, people do not converse in English. They stick to Hindi, and give a condescending look if I ask them to repeat in English.
That isn't fair as well. One of the worst display of attitude was when someone told me that it was because of them that Bangalore has become famous, when in reality it is the opposite.
Just to conclude, we don't hate anybody, we don't want to trouble anybody, but similarly, we don't want to lose our own language. The percentage of people who speak the language is drastically reducing, and we have to protect it's interests as well.

10:51 AM
@BhargavRao because most of those driver are not so educated and learned Hindi only. Expecting them to know English is bit harsh but expecting people in south to talk to you in English is too normal
@BhargavRao I have seen opposite of it, imagine we are three people who all know Hindi and english both but in middle two of them start talking in Kannada only, even when it's professional conversation related to work which will effect all three and it happen to me many times in here
@BhargavRao I respect that attitude to respect own culture , I just hate when I hear that "I am not welcomed in Karnataka because I don't know Kannada". In the end I am in India city Bangalore because I am qualified enough to do that work and know enough English to sustain any goo conversation, so ofcoure I have all rights to be here and should feel welcomed.

Q: How do I rectify swear (kasam) I took of my parents in anger?

SimranRecently I was fighting with someone and I got way too angry and told that person that I swear on my parents and my career that I won't ever talk to you... But it isn't possible for stop talking as we are in same college and classes and it's impossible to not even say a word.. Help

11:09 AM
@AnkitSharma Interesting, if that's the case then we as a nation, on the whole must learn some basic manners of not to converse in a language which is alien to atleast one member of the meeting.
FWIW, in my office, we've almost never spoken in Kannada, even with others who know. (One of my colleagues was astonished when he heard me speaking in Kannada over the phone, almost 10 months after I joined the company). But, there can be people who do converse in the local language.

@BhargavRao very true.
@NogShine Hello

@BhargavRao This is what I was trying to tell. Nobody wants to be imposed from someone, that's a human nature. Simple solution is to accept people like they're.

@AnkitSharma I apologize on behalf of anyone who've said that. I think these cases are becoming more and more common in the past couple of years, because people from Bangalore are visiting other neighboring states where, they've not been able to stay for long even if they're proficient in English. It's more like a "monkey-see monkey-do", kinda logic, which is being applied, and I'm quite horrified about it as well.

People of Banglaore have now reached a saturation point where they've generalized the entire North Indian community because they've been used to seeing the attitude of language imposition from long. I still don't think that there's a complete turn-around of Kannada imposition happening (and I don't subscribe to that), but the people have now started to realize that they need to protect their interests (and a few are trying to do that in a violent manner).

11:16 AM
TBH even I had bad experiences, but I simply don't count them.

All that said, what I feel is that we should just bury the hatchet and move forward. There are weird people everywhere, let's not label an entire city (Bangalore) as unfriendly, nor an entire community (North Indian) as hostile.

I became like Mahatma Gandhi, you slap on one side of my chick, I'll put other. LMAO

Time for me to sleep, I'll be back tomorrow. Cya all. \o

@BhargavRao true <3

@BhargavRao yeah it's not your fault and you don't need to to apologies and I do know many friendly people from here too. My complain is this kind of nature make the vicious circle and it don't end well. From myself I always bash any such nature and I did made many people stop talking in private languages in such meetings.
@BhargavRao agree
@TheLittleNaruto I am not that kind of person and that's why I end up with this dead end kind of arguments regarding religion, region and language all the time :'(
@TheLittleNaruto No your joke is fine, believe your pervy sensai

Q: Vedic Age and Hindu Timeline

Arkaprabha MajumdarIt is said in Wikipedia that "The Vedic period or Vedic age (c. 1500 – c. 600 BCE) is the period in the history of the Indian subcontinent intervening between the end of the urban Indus Valley Civilization, and a second urbanisation which began in c. 600 BCE." Other sources/scholars mention 1200 ...

@AnkitSharma You should come live in Hyderabad. Here, most of the people know Hindi more than Telugu and English. ;)

@NogShine Could you please still answer it ? :)
You're from AP ? @Nog

@TheLittleNaruto I will try to find some references. This is a common practice that the dead are buried rather than cremated.
@TheLittleNaruto Telangana.

@NogShine It was AP before anyway ^^

4:53 PM
Haha.

I lived in ameerpet once
if you know this place
@NogShine sounds good to me.

Burial is common in Shudras. (Sorry for caste remark) but it is truth. They prefer to bury and make a memorial over it. Only Brahmins, other higher caste people are cremated. It is still followed in rural areas. In urban areas, there is electric cremation now. In areas where where there is more rural population, there are separate grounds for burial and cremation.
@TheLittleNaruto Oh!! Yes, I know ameerpet.
Did you work there? Or learn anything? It is famous for crash courses

@NogShine No, I had gone there for interviews when I was a fresher
@NogShine I see.
SO it's more or less caste specific practice
I also observed one thing while visiting Andhra

I believe that you can speak and understand Telugu. There is a famous scolding "Nee bonda" means that you may be buried. Burying means burial, after the bod yis buried, people put mud over the body. This is called bonda pettadam.
@TheLittleNaruto What is it?
@TheLittleNaruto You can say that but its origin is not known.

@NogShine No, I only know few words, "Chappo" and "Am chestanav" :P

5:01 PM
@TheLittleNaruto In Tavern or Shadow's den you said you can speak and understand Telugu!!

When I was in Chandigarh, I used to stay with some telugu colleagues, at that time I knew more words in telugu
@NogShine ^

3 mins ago, by TheLittleNaruto
I also observed one thing while visiting Andhra
What is it? ^

@NogShine In remote areas, where it is hard to reach people, I found temple and church together and only few houses like 9-10 most. While temple is not managed/cleaned, but church is neat and clean.
I don't want to be religious, but this confused me a bit

@TheLittleNaruto That's not good.

In some remote areas I saw, temples poles are destroyed
If you'll go to SriSailam, then you'll get to know

5:08 PM
Did you go to Sri Sailam as a field trip or something?

more or less as a devotee
I want to visit all 12 Jyotirlinga
so far I visited 4 of 'em

Nice. I only visited 1 that is Sri Sailam.

Man! I totally loved that place. <3

Sri Sailam is not only a Jyotirlingam but also a Shaktipeetham. Also a Bhsakara Kshetra.

Free WiFi, Free food, Delux room @550
@NogShine True

5:10 PM
Hahaha

If you want to get rid of this crowd, go and stay in Sri Sailam
That's the place where you can hide yourself

and if you go as a devotee, you will find many temples there. Many places are said to be connected with Pandavas.
There is a place where there are impressions of Bhima's feet.

Yes. Also It is said, Chhatrapati SHivaji got his sword from their only.

@TheLittleNaruto Ohh! I didn't know you liked it so much.
@TheLittleNaruto Did he? they say Durga devi gifted it. Chandrahas. There is a museum about Shivaji. Did you go there?

Man! I am telling you I started loving south part of India so much that I would never like to leave this area.

5:14 PM
Thanks for your love!

@NogShine I couldn't go there, The auto guy told, it's going to be night here soon. We can't cover many places
SO we visited few of 'em
@NogShine of course <3

There is a tall SShivaji's statue there sitting on throne. Around 20 feet.
I visited it a long time ago.

I missed it then.
yesterday, by TheLittleNaruto
Because the core culture(Of India) is still preserved in here. And this part is mostly unaffected from western culture.
Just wanted to share ^^

few weeks ago I visited Thiruvannamallai
One of the panch bhoota shivlinga, Agni Form

5:19 PM
Tamilnadu is not my area and don't know about it. :P
@TheLittleNaruto A week ago, I visited Srikalahasti, one of the Panchabhootalingam.

Man! This is another one of the best place you would ever visit

Vayulingam.

Yeah I know that one.
Actually My colleague and I had a plan to visit all panch bhoota

You can clearly notice the lamps moving as if they are put near a fan.

:O
Will have to visit then

5:22 PM
That temple is so great. Only few appreciate the architecture and all. Most of them visit it for Rahu ketu pooja, do the darshan of Shiva and Gyana Prasoonamba and leave.

@TheLittleNaruto AruNachalam is great place.

@TheLittleNaruto yes.

But after going to Thiruvannamallai, dunno what happened, we are going again there

@NogShine Dakshinamurthy too :P

in Maha Shivratri
@TheDestroyer True that.
We visited some of the Ashrama there @TheDestroyer

5:23 PM
@TheLittleNaruto Ramana Maharshi ??

Yes
It was really good place to meditate
In general it takes too much to meditate @home, but there it was very easy

@TheLittleNaruto Yes. Ramana Maharshi considered that mountain Arunachala as Guru.
He got realization without Guru

@TheDestroyer Yes, there is Surya Bhagavan before Shiva lingam and came to know that it is a Bhaskara kshetra. No one looked at Surya Bhagavan idol there.

@NogShine ohh.. In Kalahasti??

5:25 PM
and many Subrahmanya swamy, Ganapathi idols too.

@TheDestroyer People told me, that mountain is Lord Shiva himself

@TheLittleNaruto Yes. Maheshwara Khanda of Skanda Purana explains that place in detail.

Will have to read then. Thanks

@NogShine I like Chola Temples or all medieval and Ancient temples. I like their Architecture.

If someone will go there, he'll automatically feel the positive vibrations
It's really one of the holy place

5:27 PM
@TheDestroyer Yes, while leaving outside after darshanam of Shiva, there is a small idol facing Shiva. Above that, it is written Surya Bhagavanudu. It is small 2-3 foot idol.

@TheLittleNaruto Did you visit Tirupati?

Not yet, But it's in my list.

@TheDestroyer Yes, they are grand. There are also some inscriptions on the wall written in Tamil.
@TheLittleNaruto You will love it.

@NogShine ikr ^^

@NogShine Ohh.. Actually Shiva Linga has Navagraha Kavacha . That's unique about this Linga.

5:28 PM
@TheDestroyer Are you from Tamilnadu ?

@TheLittleNaruto No. Andhra.

@TheLittleNaruto You will feel invisible divine energy in Garbha Gruha of Venkateswara.. I have felt once. I felt like i was floating in air. My first experience which made me to believe in God.

@TheLittleNaruto Luckily, when we visited, there is no rush for darshanam. After we had, rush increased.
@TheDestroyer True.

@NogShine The more we get tired, the more divine energy we feel.
I always use to prefer steps path.

5:31 PM
When we see the lord, we don't remember our wishes etc., this gave rise to theory that there is a yantra in the ananda nilayam.

@TheDestroyer Earlier we used to visit temples just like a trip, now as I understand God existence, I feel this positive aura in every holy places.
This is something you, only you can feel and experience

@TheDestroyer I climbed steps recently too. It was a great experience.

@TheLittleNaruto Yes. With mantras, Yantras there is energy concentrated near Mula virat.

@NogShine Which time was it when you entered in the temple ?
May be I'll go at that time only

@NogShine Great. Tirupati and Kalahasti??

5:32 PM
Do you go by alipiri path or other? @TheDestroyer

@NogShine I think only one path is there?

@TheDestroyer New path Si Vari metlu.

@NogShine ohh.. When did they start it? I think it was criticized as it goes through forest.
@TheLittleNaruto Yes. Some things are beyond our limited intellect.

@TheLittleNaruto We reached the line by 5:00 early morning. If you go by steps path, they will give you a free ticket for darshanam. which is better than free darshanam. We went through both darshans.
@TheDestroyer Yes. Also Tiruchanur.

@TheDestroyer true :)

5:35 PM
@NogShine Padmavati Ammavaru??

Yes

@NogShine Thanks will go at that time only.

How cn we miss our mother?

@NogShine I always think to visit Varaha Swami before Srinivasa but temple will be closed always.
@NogShine I think i didn't visit temple even once. We miss it everytime.
@TheLittleNaruto What is your native place, if you don't mind?

@TheDestroyer I am from Bokaro Steel City.
I hope you know this place ^^

5:38 PM
@TheLittleNaruto Yes. Dhoni's state :P

Yea. But You should know about Bokaro Steel City if your general awareness skills is good :P
It's Asia's largest in steel production.

@TheLittleNaruto Yeah. I know that place.

nice :)

@TheLittleNaruto if it is possible, go through steps path. Experience is good. Book darshan tickets in advance. It will be easy.

@TheLittleNaruto Btw, bhaidhyanath temple Deoghar in Jharkhand is believed to be Jyotirlinga.

5:41 PM
@NogShine Sure will do. Before going there, I'll contact you guys.
@TheDestroyer Yes it is a Jyotirlinga.

@NogShine Why Darsha tickets if going through steps?

@TheDestroyer Because you put so much efforts ?

@TheDestroyer just to be safe . :P

It's really good in that sense imo

@TheLittleNaruto Actually there is contest between Vaidyanath near parli to this place. Telugus here believe Deoghar is Upalinga.

5:43 PM
@TheDestroyer Oh! I won't argue that.

@NogShine I think not needed unless our pace is very slow.

We did darshanam through steps ticket and again went in free darshanam. :D

clever boy

@TheLittleNaruto Ok.. It was in my list but replaced it with Vaidyanath Parli.. But I may visit this temple also.

@TheDestroyer The jyotirlinga has started disappearing now. Only top most part you can see.
Do visit!

5:46 PM
@TheLittleNaruto Same with Mallikarjuna and Mahakaleswara also

@TheDestroyer No Man! not with Mahakaleshwara

One thing I like in South Indian Shiva temples is that Shiva Linga is tall and huge. THey can be seen from far too.

They are disappearing. Due to corrupt Abhisheka materials,

Mahakaleshwara is one of the Jyotirlinga where I visited mostly

@NogShine But they don't allow to touch them in most temples. Rigid Agama rules.

5:47 PM
And it is the temple from where my beliefs have started growing for God

@TheLittleNaruto Yes, Mallikarjuna is also disappearing. They put a kavacha on it.

@TheLittleNaruto Good. Ujjain is place of learning for Shaivism in past.
@NogShine How is new route?

@TheDestroyer 56 ways of Aarti are done for Mahakaleshwara. one of them is Bhasma Aarti.

Why did i miss it? I visisted in Dec.

Bhasma is dead body ash

5:52 PM
@TheLittleNaruto Yes. Bhasma Arti is my favorite. I once watched live.

@TheDestroyer They say there are 2400 steps. Unlike the alipiri path, there are only steps. No walking path.

@TheDestroyer Ujjain has a boon that at least one dead body will be burnt daily

@TheLittleNaruto The soul of that body goes to Kailasa when it touches Mahakaleswara.

@TheDestroyer True :)

@TheLittleNaruto I like Kashi Vishwanath among all Jyotirlingas.
@NogShine Ohh.. I will try this path next time. Where did you get Darshanam ticket?

5:54 PM
@TheDestroyer We thought going in that route but refrained in last minute. It opens at 6 am. We went through alipiri
@TheDestroyer On the way. First 6k get the ticket through Sri Vari metlu and first 14k through alipiri. I was 883.

@NogShine ok.

@TheDestroyer sure :)

@TheDestroyer Very nice to hear. You will get it.

@NogShine No. New way. I know old way.

They verify at 1500 step or somewhere on Sri Vari metlu. It opens at 6:am.

5:58 PM
@NogShine ok.

@NogShine 6k is what? steps ?

I think total steps are less than 4000

@TheLittleNaruto First 6k devotees get free darshanam tickets and are given preference over normal darshanam tickets. It is on new way. In the old way, first 14k devotees are given the tickets.

Around 3500

The total steps are ~3600
The TTD count is different from the count on the steps @TheDestroyer
and in the second half, they count half kilometer with 20 steps.

6:03 PM
@NogShine I see.

Ok.Guys. GN.
