@ThoriumBR so, our solution to spam waves is - use pavlovian conditioning and bad puns to convince users to report spammers.
Then periodically we, to use the technical term "nuke the ****" out of their accounts.
the spammers not the users
The users are happy, and even amused, and the spammers generally get taken care of fairly quickly and totally

@security_paranoid I hadn't seen that chat before
What criteria do you use to list accounts in there? And what does it do different to Charcoal?
@JourneymanGeek I certainly find it entertaining:D
@RoryAlsop anyone can just report a spammer account if they want…
I’m not part of charcoal and yet i report whenever i can
Whenever i see, i should say

In fact, it’d be cool to have the same thing over here but it’d be pretty redundant. We wouldn’t even get a hundredth of the spammers superuser does.
I do report spammers too, but I rarely see one.

The way the spam flags work here means that in general posts and spammers get nuked quickly. However, on the odd occasion we have had a wave (thankfully not very often) it has been tricky to cope here just due to numbers

Oh we are having a pretty serious spam wave :D
@RoryAlsop One of the mods nukes the account :D
Its closer to the pre charcoal/queues (flagging?) spam/closure reporting rooms
“Pretty serious” is still an understatement!
It’s crazy!
Check the Cannery :D
criteria? "Its clearly a spammer, and I need them gone, dead, and extra crispy"
