No, I don't really give a fuck either way. I just got mad because I dislike my words being purposefully altered to fit someone else narrative.
I am only willing to believe that my explanations are so bad a few times, when you're misunderstanding me every single time, I refuse to accept I am the person at fault for those misunderstandings after some point. After the fucking 10th time then I just hit melting point.

1 hour later…
8:39 AM
I stayed out of this drama. But @Jis12yearsold. you have my support. Don't feed the trolls.

@A.Hersean :) Thanks. Although I already did that since I changed my name. But I am quite a petty person so I felt like the name change was justifiable and also hilarious.
Today I need to move my blog to Hugo because Jekyll sucks.

@Jis12yearsold. BRB, reporting to the CMs for being underaged....
:D

I also need to figure out how the fuck I build a Gentoo VM because I want to learn how to make OS' and it has that really nice feature of having two compilers available.

@Jis12yearsold. frankly?
Put aside at least 3 days, and follow the build guide

@JourneymanGeek LOL
@JourneymanGeek Is it that hard?

8:48 AM
@Jis12yearsold. no, its time consuming

Oh boy.
That's okay, I guess. I'll do it in stages :D

Also it'll probably take 1 or 2 but ...
"Oh, it works, wait, I need to recompile the kernel so I can run X"

Unless anyone has a suggestion of another distro which can have a "hotswap" slot for a compiler?
Because that is super useful, for sure.
I could just use Ubuntu and replace the compiler with my cross-compiler I gotta' build, I guess.
But the idea of having two compilers is nice...
Oh Jesus... I just read a Gentoo build guide.

I thought as long you had it set up 'right' and had the libraries you needed on hand, you could switch, but I don't build so much stuff

I don't need a hotswap compiler after all..

8:51 AM
@Jis12yearsold. So yeah...
I actually recommend doing it at least once in your life :D

I'll use a Ubuntu VM because I'm a dirty scrub :D

Or you could go the easy way with archlinux.

Hotswap compiler was a super nice idea in theory. Then I saw this 2000 line blog post about installing Gentoo.
@A.Hersean Does Arch have the ability for a hotswap compiler?

It has the ability of using precompiled packages (for most common ones).
I never tried to touch the default arch C/C++ compiler.

Hmm, I don't think that really suits my needs.
Because I need to build a cross-compiler which can compile both my OS and what I'm running on.

8:54 AM
I feel like I'm not grokking something
"Compile your OS" or "Compile your kernel" ?
Cause this is the one time bringing up Gnu/Linux makes sense :D

From wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel/Traditional_compilation you must use GCC to compile the kernel, but you can tweak the options as much as you want. For the package usually the options depends on the packages.

@JourneymanGeek Well, I need a cross-compiler because I need to be able to compile the code I am writing for the OS as well as my own machine, so it can tell what the difference is.
Since the OS I am building is different.
So it needs a way of knowing that

uh
thats not what cross compile means

yes its running on my machine
but its compiling for a different one
so i need to build that else it wont know its compiling for a different machine
no?
or maybe im wrong but thats what ive read...

Cross compiling is compiling for a different architecture
(and folks, correct me if I'm wrong_

9:04 AM
hmm.

And that's semi trivial

Well, from osdev wiki it says you need a cross compiler because you need to compile on your own machine but for a different target the target being what i'm writing.
because of course, theyre different os'

Ok, stop for a moment
Can you link me the article?

> These two platforms may (but do not need to) differ in CPU, operating system, and/or executable format.

9:07 AM
right.
they differ in operating system, one doesn't exist yet. im on linux. what im building is not.

So in theory if I built something statically in ubuntu x86_64, it could run on another distro that uses the same glibc implimentation
AH hah

Oh right i think heres the problem
im not building linux

Well - that's a bit beyond my ken bit...
If you set up the build scripts, compiler and such properly, the distro you run shouldn't matter

i was simply going to use gentoo because of the recommendation on that page of the whole hotswap compiler thing it makes two slots
but after seeing how painful it was to build, im just gonna use a ubuntu vm lol
i dont need two compiler slots anyways
/shrug
it was just a "nice to have" but it doesnt matter all that much
@JourneymanGeek yeah it doesnt :D
also i installed i3 on my laptop yesterday
since everyone says its really good
and it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to get a terminal
lmfao
it seems really efficient, when youknow how to use it...
I like this phrase!
I thought it was something from startrek at first.

9:18 AM
Heh, I've really never heard it before.
TFW you have better English than me...

Oh, I think I picked it up from a wannabe scotsman in the old battletech community I was a part of :D
@Jis12yearsold. I mean, I'm only ESL :D

@JourneymanGeek hah, that's awesome. A bit beyond my ken...
Never heard it before, it's got a nice ring to it :D
@JourneymanGeek What is ESL?
Oh right
Second language.
I can only speak English, not well... I know maybe five sentences in Arabic too, that's it.
I am terrible at learning languages. I tried to learn Spanish for over 5 years and barely made it past grade 3.

And when I say "five sentences" what I really mean is five half sentences
and a couple words...
of which i dont often use

I speak english tamil, and at best toddler level french, but I forgot most of it.

9:23 AM
wtf is with devs who have no ability to define what their requirements are?¬!

I thought most of Singapore speaks Mandarin? :O

@Jis12yearsold. Actually not really

English is the lingua franca, the majority of singaporeans are chinese (but Mandarin is the 'standard' but not the native dialect for many)

I say 'I need to know your network requirements, to plan the firewall rules for your application'
they say 'oh we just need access to X on port Y'
it all gets implemented

9:24 AM
Wait, English?

'Why can't I get to Z on port AA?'

That's surprising.

@Jis12yearsold. Yes. English
@Jis12yearsold. We were a british colony

Well... Nevermind. You do have a lot of US tech invasions...
And that#
but the us tech companies must be contributing :D

US never was here :D

9:25 AM
Do you not have lots of western tech companies in singapore?
I thought there were...

THey were in the phillippines after chasing out the french
sure, but they're here cause we speak english

No, not army.
I meant tech.
oh right okay
that makes sense i guess, yeah
i wonder how much english they speak in china
i guess quite a lot in huge cities.
actually i didnt realise how widespread english was
i mean, i knew but I never experienced it
everywhere i went in europe; before people even knew i was english, they spoke english. i mean, i did go to major cities so it explains it i guess
but when i went to nablus with my girlfriend, they also spoke english a lot more than i expected...
i was at some random gas station in france for example, pretty far into france, not really near anything and they were speaking english there i was surprised

9:44 AM
does anyone know if its possible to host multiple sites on gitlab pages
i think im going to have some issues with the whole namespace thing
right? since you cant have two projects with the same namespace

10:00 AM
why is the whole world talking so much about Covid, but we aren't seeing anybody talk this much about malware?
malware is already a pandemic, as far as I know. When are we going to hear people and media talk about malware the same way we hear them talk about Covid?

....
because malware hasn't yet killed 159million people? (Debatable, I know...)
Also emotion.

@djsmiley2kStaysInside then why don't we talk about car accidents?

yeah, maybe we need to wait for some better disasters
another difference is that while for covid you can blame nature (for example bats), for cyber security you are going to blame people (and software, and firms). So that might become a hairy issue

@nobody human psychology is weird
We do talk about car accidents, to a point....
but people blame the people in the accidents, generally

well there are plenty of ways I can blame people with covid too

10:16 AM
Sure.
But covid feels like something we can control to a point, whereas no ones gonna stop driving
Because no one thinks they are the cause of driving deaths.

Humanity has utterly failed at controlling covid.

In a few years there will be a malware pandemic, and the government will say: "Please don't stay at home, go outside, don't touch your computer, disconnect your mouse, all porn websites must remain offline for one month"
3

hahahaha :D

Govt is reporting only the recorded number of deaths but the actual data is more than that

@daya In India, yes, in some other countries, actual data might be less

10:28 AM
For e.g. In India there are 400k+ cases everyday and 4.5k+ deaths
65% people live in rural areas and they didn't even got tested and then die
Cases got increased exponentially since March
Otherwise situation was getting normal
This is 2nd wave and some experts are saying that 3rd wave will come soon!
I mean WTF
When will this fucking COVID will disappear from Earth completely
@nobody yeah maybe

@daya when nearly everyone is immune, or dead.

@djsmiley2kStaysInside the possibility of everyone getting immune seems very low to me with such a large population

well, anyone who doesn't die from getting it, will get some immunity
so eventually, everyone ends up immune, or dead...

Hmm
The entire healthcare system is collapsed
People are dying from lack of Oxygen and some fuckers are black marketing the Oxygen cylinders
I mean How some people can do such inhumane things

10:43 AM
@daya money can change ethics
and conscience can have a price tag

@ThoriumBR yeah It's all about making money even in crisis

we had a dam burst here a few years ago, people were selling water for $5/gallon before the accident and for $50/gallon after
truck drivers went on strike because of the fuel prices other day, and gasoline went from $4/liter to $12 overnight

we had what happened because of the toilet roll shortages -_-

so in a crisis, some people get out of their way to help others, and some do the same to help themselves

fortunately you don't need loo roll to live

10:46 AM
It happens everywhere, here ambulance drivers are charging $681 for 40 Km!
And taking patients only if they have already booked a bed in that hospital

God bless the NHS
whatever god is listening ;D

And this new mutant is very dangerous
I heard that many people died within 2 days! after getting Covid
Some due to heart attack
In this wave, people are not even getting time to recover themselves. Mortality rate is very high and mostly youths are dying in this wave

why th efuck does dns take so long to update
im gonna scream

And 3rd wave will target kids, some experts said

@daya where's that? Is healthcare free in your country?
God bless my fucking country, full of problems but where health care is free

10:56 AM
@reed In India it's not, but charges are not that much high. It is happening only in covid time
mostly private hospitals are charging huge amount of money
govt hospitals are free
But again, there are huge shortage of beds
$400 per day for covid beds
@ThoriumBR How's Brazil nowadays? any improvement?
I think India is in worst state

vaccination reached 8%, the president said he will be the last one to be vaccinated here to set an example (yeah, example of what not to do), and hospitalizations are as high as ever
but things are improving for elderly that already got the vaccine: hospitalizations decreased by 90%

Hmm, glad to hear that

we need to ramp up vaccinations but cannot because we cannot manufacture the vaccine in great numbers, and people are now scheduling to get the shot, get there and see what kind of vaccine is, and choosing not to get that vaccine because they want the other one

Yeah, that too is a thing

and that leads to wasted vaccines... they should be fined and detained on the spot, and be released to go home only after paying the fine.

11:04 AM
We supplied vaccines to many countries and now we ourselves are on vaccine shortage!

that's the "some get out of their way to help" that I said before...

hmm
Many countries are helping but it is not actually reaching to the needy people
because of some powerful people and politicians who are indulged in black marketing

@Jis12yearsold. Because of the CAP theorem

its really annoying
Wow, GitLab is so much better than GitHub.
It has a thousand times more features and its free.

Q: is metasploit under whonix anonymous?

dumb guyIf I run an exploit like EternalBlue with Metasploit on whonix to a remote machine, do I remain anonymous? I think I do because it goes over tor but I am not sure. Am I right?

Why do I feel like this guy isn't trying to go for something legal?

You're right.
As I said to forest, he's 90% likely going to jail.
But, I thought I'd at least try and save him from going to jail with some basic opsec safety.

He should do some anonymous crime instead
Like making fully-automatic machineguns in his yard
.22LR and 9mm Para

I mean, at least he got his username accurate, right? lol

11:55 AM
Yeah, username checks out

I am the last person who is going to be against someone breaking the law.
In-fact, I'll provide pointers on how to do it (as I did here).

Fun fact: It's easier to manufacture a machinegun than it is to manufacture a semi-automatic gun.

The sad thing is, even if he follows all of the advice I gave him, chances are his actual opsec will still be so bad that he'll get caught anyways.

At least, an open bolt straight-blowback gun
@Jis12yearsold. Yeah, but that's his problem
I mean, look at this
Tell me this isn't the best shit ever
A fully-functioning 9mm SMG

@MechMK1 Oh I know, but he seems determined on doing it so the least I can do is try and save him a little.
After all, he has more value for society than a police officer does.

11:57 AM
@Jis12yearsold. Some people are just retarded and need to be left behind

Hahahahahahahah.

You know it's true

I agree, but when crime is involved I'd rather see a stupid criminal win than a smart-ass cop win.

Depends on the crime
Pwning some public windows xp machine? Yeah, whatever
Child molesters? Refer to my machinegun

Oh, agreed. But I don't suspect he is referring to anything related with children or abuse.

11:59 AM
That's true
Unfortunately, pedos tend to have good opsec for the most part
Fortunately, they generally have tons of evidence on their machines
I mean terabytes of it
And forensic analysis software gets better and better

You know what I've never understood?
