Wow stackexchange just got a DMCA takedown for a question on crypto.SE

Q: CipherCloud DMCA notice

CodesInChaosCipherCloud just filed a DMCA notice with stack exchange to take down the question How is CipherCloud doing homomorphic encryption? (now deleted by stackexchange). Since I obviously can't post the full question+answers here, a short summary of what it contained: The question itself asks if/how...

@CodesInChaos Somebody got it too right? BTW it's still available on Google cache ;) LOL
"ECB + 0/constant padding + 0/constant IV => simple 1:1 mapping => why don't you just rotate the bits and call it a day!"

@D3C4FF oh, nvm then lol
@D3C4FF seems that way

@TildalWave Yay! Friends :D

@D3C4FF looptech.com.au you know of them?

Yeah, there a vendor/services provider along the east coast
We've worked with their consultants on large engagements before
Good guys

3:08 AM
@TildalWave I've got a contract coming up with one of the major aussie banks to Pentest their ATM's and their ATM network :D

@D3C4FF man my eyes are shutting down ... been busy figuring out CTFs, how come you're not there?

@TildalWave Ooooh Which CTFs? There where?

Haha, i fuckin' love black books

@D3C4FF but you need @TerryChia to let you in the room I think... or maybe @RoryAlsop can also do it... whoever wakes up 1st... I'm off to narnia ;) T/C

3:21 AM
@D3C4FF Granted you access in.

@CodesInChaos amusingly the Streisand effect is now in full swing, it's on the front page of hacker news and the post has been retweeted all over the place. Amazing that companies never learn...

It's quite often the case that the first time I hear about a company is related to streisand

11:23 AM
got a bit bigger than I expected.
interestingly you can get the mortarboard badge (200 rep from upvotes in a day) on a meta site (where you actually can't earn rep)

11:46 AM
@rorym - wonder what they expected
:)

12:08 PM
Damn, a question closed while I was answering to it
@RoryAlsop, care to reopen the question about face recognition and robots.txt ?

12:25 PM
@thomas - I had thought it was not answerable here, but I have a feeling I'm about to be proved very wrong. 1 minute...
Reopened - apologies.

@RoryAlsop Thanks !
"community request". Ah !

You are community :-)
That sounds like 'we are legion' somehow
In other news, lock picking has reached commit status...

1:04 PM
Just got my email. Yay.
Oh good, Sempf was the first commiter. That seems oddly appropriate

@ScottPack cool - didn't spot that. Hopefully that may help... going to ping out a link to my friends

This is interesting, a linux ultrabook from dell: arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/04/…
I'll stick with OS X for now, but a it looks like a nice alternative to those wanting a unix-based laptop.

2:04 PM
It's the same price as a MBP and appears top be lower quality design in almost every way. :-(

2:36 PM
@rorya Well, I don't know what this paper.li "Making Security a Common Sense" thing is but my locking.se tweet made it in there. Moar publicity!

Sheer curiosity, not a complaint at all, but is it possible that I wasn't credited +2 rep point for some edit? I mean, I was complaining that it'll ruin my 1337 rep when I went to edit one post, so I guess what I'm asking is, if it's possible some mod saw that and reversed the rep change? It's now 1347 anyway, some bastard upvoted one of my posts LOL

There is a maximum amount of suggested edit rep you can get
Also, maybe someone improved instead of approving it? I'm not sure.

@ScottPack Oh, didn't know that thanks!
@ScottPack Possible, dunno because I don't see it all with the rep I have... doesn't matter, I was just curious. So what's the total edit rep one can get? That's a certain percentage of total rep?
I'm curious because of the rep number hunts like the 1337 one we had with @D3C4FF
I guess my next one would be 1390 ... might change my gravatar to relect that, if I find the time LOL (yeah, I know... kids these days:))

I'm not sure what the maximum is
I think I need more podcasts. I seem to have been managing to stay roughly up to date, but now it's starting into yard work season

2:59 PM
> The other way to gain reputation is by suggesting edits to existing posts as a new registered user. Each edit will be peer reviewed, and if it is accepted, you will earn +2 reputation. You can only earn a maximum of +1000 total reputation through suggested edits, however.
FAQ bitches.

@TildalWave See? That's why we keep him around. Bitch work.

You know what.... that answer by @ThomasPornin is awesome.

A: Can robots.txt for your face be made effective?

Tom LeekAlthough Google Glass makes the issue look whole new and technological, this is actually very old news. To make it short, there is no privacy in public places. Indeed, whenever you go out on the street, you show your face to the World at large, opening up the possibility that any bystander recog...

@TerryChia yup just finished reading it. No mention of CCTVs tho. Not all big cities are equal in terms of privacy ;)
@ScottPack OK I didn't do 500 edits ... I'm not THAT anal LOL... so the plot thickens, because my rep scoreboard shows that last edit as accepted and with +2,... but if that was the case, then I should have 1349 points, and I didn't get any downvotes in the last couple of days :O But I repeat, I'm not bothered by rep score, just curious what all mods can do, so I get a perspective on things around here
Anyway, whoever upvoted my aviation answer ruined it anyway... but I did manage to have 1337 on two accounts for about half an hour hehe

@Thomasp Thanks for calling me out on closing the robots.txt question. That's a bloody good answer! @Tildal - CCTV is worth an answer from you as well I reckon

3:16 PM
@RoryAlsop So I'll just answer "CCTV" and you upvote me? ;)

@RoryAlsop I wanted to delve deeper into what robots.txt actually is and what it's good for (basically - nothing LOL), but then I read @ThomasPornin's answer and realized it doesn't even matter. CCTVs... that's not for a whole new answer IMO ;)

;)
@TildalWave robots.txt is basically a "hey, i got something sweet hidden in this directory" during CTFs.

@TerryChia exactly... it's meant to list places of interest LOL
In contrast to humans.txt which stands for places of no interest ;)

Ok, imagine that people will actually respect a robots.txt for people.
How damn large is that file gonna be?

@TerryChia It could only work for other people wearing Google Glass anyway... I usually don't have an IP on me to point to robots.txt. Maybe I should rethink that, put some QR code on my tees and similar... or... on my forehead? It should still point somewhere tho.
User-agent: Google Glass
Disallow: /
OK, I've put that in my robots.txt for a laugh :) Now... that should indicate to Google Glass that they're not allowed to browse my website, not stare at my tits. Huston, we've got a problem! How do you integrate robots.txt at the root address of a human being?

3:49 PM
You have tits?

@ScottPack t'was a booby trap, and you fell for it! :P

I see what you did there.

That CipherCloud thing is getting really weird. They make claims that clearly contradict a screenshot, hinting that the actual product offering might differ from the public demo.

@Ladadadada "503 No ha sido posible procesar su solicitud, por favor intente acceder de nuevo a la web pasados unos segundos."
Apparently, being human implies talking Spanish. Drat.

@RoryAlsop I dunno, you'd think these days that the effect is well known, they managed to turn a relatively old question on a relatively specialist site, into something that a wide range of the tech press might see.

9:05 PM
"Pictured above, the Sakurajima volcano in southern Japan was caught erupting in early January. Magma bubbles so hot they glow shoot away as liquid rock bursts through the Earth’s surface from below. The above image is particularly notable, however, for the lightning bolts caught near the volcano’s summit. Why lightning occurs even in common thunderstorms remains a topic of research, and the cause of volcanic lightning is even less clear..."
Totally awesome!
long exposure from the nearby town

Son of a bitch! There is nothing I despise more than losing rep from a user pussing out and bein gdeleted.
Except maybe @LucasKauffman. He's kind of a dick.
