@JackDouglas You're probably the only one I know who isn't trying to blow their fingers off w/pyrotechnics...Question: How do you get that "small bold type" where some folks(David, MarkEdward, etc.) use as references?
@user2479 good question, let me find a link...

A: Markdown footnotes?

Jon EricsonHere's what I do1 to simulate footnotes: These lines are _going to_ intersect1! ... -------- **Footnotes:** 1. See Euclid's 5th postulate. It's not that hard to do, but it's still a pain and the results aren't ideal. There's no easy way to set up links from the footn...

@JackDouglas Looks kinda complicated
yes, it's really annoying

Q: Time to fork markdown?

Jack DouglasIt's been nearly 18 months since Jeff Atwood asked about The Future of Markdown, proposing that... ...Stack Exchange, GitHub, Meteor, Reddit, and any other company with lots of traffic and a strategic investment in Markdown, all work together to come up with an official Markdown specification...

please vote for something better here ^^^^
@JackDouglas Too bad it couldn't be an icon, maybe next to "Header".
basically it's a 'hack', mis-using subscripts
8:44 AM
@JackDouglas It looks a lot better-although I have to 'zoom' to read them. This is a "no-brainer" IMHO.
@JackDouglas So, what will you do while we burn hot dogs and sparklers(and ride out a hurricane)?
I will go to work :)
@JackDouglas Probably not much demand on this side of the pond for your time....
you mean moderating?
@JackDouglas Or anything-thanks to you Brits-we get to eat burnt food and singe our forearm hair...;>)
I am envious I admit
I like burnt food very much
8:52 AM
@JackDouglas And that you should-unless you have children and the thought of unsupervised fireworks bothers you...
We have four children under 10, so yes, supervision is very necessary ;)
@JackDouglas I'm sure there's some measurement of pure carbon required in one's diet-but if it someone else's cooking-how do you complain?
there is burnt and there is burnt to be sure
@JackDouglas We have stands that only come out for the 4th of July, and that phrase "up in smoke" takes on a whole new realm of meaning.
stands?
8:58 AM
@JackDouglas Fireworks roadside stands-where they sell fireworks. You'd be surprised how quickly your wallet depletes when you start feeding on fireworks...
we usually buy sparklers in the week after bonfire night, they are sometimes almost giving them away
@JackDouglas Fortunately, we live in a large city where they have excellent fireworks displays; unfortunely we also have a large and thriving population of mosquitos, so it's a race to see if the crowd or the mosquitos are left standing...
@JackDouglas But so far, we have managed without raising the Union Jack. Any plans over there of changing that?
@JackDouglas (If you're around) I've never quite understood Guy Fawkes Day-how does a guy who tried to burn down the Parliament get a holiday?

@user2479 sorry, got called away
the holiday celebrates the torture and execution of Guy Fawkes rather than the plot itself
Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day, Bonfire Night and Firework Night, is an annual commemoration observed on 5 November, primarily in Great Britain. Its history begins with the events of 5 November 1605, when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords. Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London, and months later the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgivi...

@ScottS Good morning! Q: One of the two angels talks when greeting with Lot. I'm wondering who talked to Abraham and Sarah and who didn't.
@JohnMartin In v.5, they all reply to Abraham's invitation ("they said"), as well as inquiring after Sarah (v.9), but v.10 shifts to "he said," and the one speaking is making reference to the Gen 17:19 promise God made to give Sarah a son (so implied is the LORD). In v.13, it specifically states the "LORD said." So all speak some, but the LORD is the main speaker to them.
@ScottS I can't help but laugh with this case. Abraham talks to one of the group with "Sir" and has them "rest yourselves".
@ScottS Scott - Thanks for working with me. Have a great weekend!
@JohnMartin "Sir" is a bad translation in my opinion. It is "my Lord" (adonai), so Abraham is recognizing the authority of the one visiting. You are welcome, have a good weekend yourself.
1:58 PM
@ScottS Just one more note...I put the word "trinity" in my bottom line question so it could be read to mean "trinity" of visitors or Trinity? Thanks again. ;-)
