Q: Does the sentence imposed by God, during wilderness wanderings, fit the crime?? The crime: wood gathering on the Sabbath-Numbers 15:32-36

Olde EnglishGod's implicit sentence against working on the Sabbath of being "Stoned to death" seems awfully harsh on the post Exodus, most likely long suffering, wilderness wanderer, who was merely gathering wood for the burning thereof. Surely he should have been allowed to atone for his seemingly mild sin/...
