I want to read the bible for the first time, but I want to read the most accurate yet easily readable version. I think the debate is between the NASB and ESV versions. Which one should I pick and why?
It could perhaps be edited to be a translation comparison where people delve into the philosophies, teams and other influences that went into each translation and maybe give some examples of how exactly they vary but specifically not answer what is currently being asked. It looks like at least Jessica sort of went down that path anyway.
We have some successful questions along those lines at C.SE, but they have to be both carefully and specifically worded in order to not start WW3, which that question is currently neither.
I don't think SE is a good format to continue the discussions that rage everywhere else on the web about which translation is "better" to read.
