I've bought one of these:
adafruit.com/product/4965 and I notice an interesting behavior. If the water level rises very gradually, it doesn't trigger, but if you disturb the water ever so slightly it triggers. It uses the J3Y transistor which isn't very clear in the pic. What characteristic of transistors is causing this?!
