@AnindoGhosh Hey, Anindo!
He left long time ago saying that it is time for him to move.. I cannot remember the exact reason why, but if I recall correctly he thought that he had served his time enough already
@NickAlexeev ahem "analog devices"
Wow, for that price, if I had space available and since my engineering is cheaper, I would create an RS485 MODBUS network and put an RS485 transciever IC and a microcontroller on each slave

@abdullahkahraman Yes, the price is comparable to a microcontroller plus a transceiver.
@AnindoGhosh It's worse than that. By now, Olin's suspension has been over weeks ago. Olin haven't come back.
Why? Because Stackexchange wants nice and no spice.
Stackexchange wants to be everyone's overbearing mommy. [No, I'm not the mod who suspended Olin.]

It is really painful to see contributors like Olin are just treated like this. I checked his answers/comments before the suspension, there is nothing really offensive.

It is very discouraging to contribute to a community with such type of management. Off course I am not saying that big contributors like Olin can do whatever they want to do. But all of us know that he did not do anything deserve a month suspension, and if it is so, why don’t the moderator share the reason with all the community to justify his/her action?

@NickAlexeev Perhaps, like me (back when I dropped off), he found something more compelling to do with his time. I can empathize with that.
@abdullahkahraman Makes sense. :-) I went through something similar.

If Stackexchange didn't do something, something would have been forced onto them... Everything has gotten all touchy-feely where opinions matter more than facts where feelings matter more than substance
Look at the linux kernel. It had a Code Of Conflict for years documents what will happen if personalities clashed
Linus is known for emptying both barrels BUT he would only do that IF what was submitted was crap, clear signs no testing was done before sending it for review AND from those he knew should know better
People took offence at the culture within the kernel dev and well a Code of Conduct was forced into the kernel via the Contributors Covernant.
Ironically, those that maintain the CoC are racists and bigots but hey "diversity"
for hte last 3months patches back into the Linux kernel have been submitted to correct this being forced in. A CoC that puts opinion over fact, feelings over response, (shortlist) diversity over contribution
Before this... it didn't matter who you were, what you did, skin/religion/diet/kink etc AS LONG AS YOUR CODE WAS GOOD
now, the Convenant is on a witchhunt for those that do not support their view and publically shaming them over unreleated things to force them out...
.
THIS type of thing could have happened to SE and by extention EE.SE and thus it is better to pre-empt
Yes it is bad that people are to be wrapped in cotton wool but saying that Olin did really push the boundaries with regards to being civil when faced with someone taking the piss (either out of ignorance or arrogance)
when I first started posting here (to contribute back from questions I asked in StackOverflow) he jumped down my throat simply for being new. yet I sit here with 20years of aerospace valid power electronics experience with papers and patents to my name

@JonRB To be fair, it's not really that difficult to present correct facts without being an a-hole about it. Some people just enjoy being an a-hole. And those people end up driving away other users who might otherwise make their own contributions to the site.

5:31 PM
@ThePhoton Except you don't know what you don't know. Take this example electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/412538/…
This induvidual has ZERO idea how to diagnose nor actually provide the infomation Ihave requested. He is suffering from object fixation. The MOSFET, The MOSFET, The MOSFET without stepping back and going "you know what... " or providing the wider info

@JonRB Neither do the biggest experts on the site.
So vote to close as unclear what they're asking and move on.
No need to be a jerk about it.

tell that to Olin, he is the one with the problem with people suffering from object fixation.
I will always try to tease the infomation out

@JonRB Not saying you were being a jerk with your comment (I hadn't read it).
But some other users might have replied in a way that insulted the person rather than objectively criticized the question as posted.
Those are the people who need to change what they're doing.

exactly
now sure, if faced with hostilities or "why should I do that" (and I have faced that) then be extreamly blunt and report for closure

Here's me making a very similar comment.
And another user making more pointed comments that are condescending enough that I'm not surprised if the asker felt attacked.

6:31 PM
this is impressive, for the wrong reasons

Q: Explain this circuit

Curious I know this circuit is an oscillator circuit and it senses another signal of same frequency, but I don't understand the calculation behind it, and the reason for emitter inductor, 3.9k collector resistor and others. Can someone please show me the calculations for this circuit? I made one...

physically realised the circuit, and by physcial I mean geometrically like the circuit

@JonRB Not quite the next Jim Williams

My company got millions of dollars of tax breaks this year, so what do they do? No raises, and they decided that they couldn't afford the regular thanksgiving and Christmas gifts. I did see that they bought back much of their stock

11:14 PM
@laptop2d holiday gifts for the stockholders much?

No, the stock didn't even go up when they started to buy it back

11:38 PM
@laptop2d Just think how much it would have gone down otherwise ;)
