@MichaelC OP didn't delete the question; Philip closed it. I was almost done writing an answer when he closed it. re: 'snide', I don't think it was snide. Curt, more meta-focused than user-focused. But I wouldn't say snide.
I don't think it's off-topic, but I can see why people think it is. OT because video is "This is about video that has no relation to photography". In this case, even though OP didn't mention a photographic use, wanting to use AC mains to power a camera for longer than the battery can supply is a question we get periodically, and it's definitely a normal thing to want to do for some types of photography (astrophotography and timelapse come to mind). I'd support anybody's reopen nomination.

@scottbb Yeah, I had just looked at about two dozen places trying to find the kit in listed in stock anywhere and had finished an answer when I discovered it had been closed two minutes earlier. That's thirty of forty minutes I'll never get back.
@scottbb I agree wholeheartedly. Just because it can be applied to video shouldn't make things off topic. Even if it is asked in the context of created video content, if the main problem is also applicable to stills I think we should at least consider or discuss it before summarily closing. Most mods in the past have reserved their own close votes until at least two or three other users have voted to close.
It's nice to get more immediate responses to certain obvious bad questions, like the German language ads for the sex dolls. But I'm of the opinion questions that are at least arguable applicable to still photography should not be summarily executed in their first hour or two.
@scottbb This one was not as snide as many others I've seen. If I had realized the question was apparently already closed when the comment was made I would have certainly responded a bit differently. But when I tried to submit the answer, I just got a notification the question was closed by 'community', which is how it also shows up when the OP deletes it after one negative comment.
Again, just my opinion, but if a mod is going to summarily close a new question from a brand new user with a rep of 1 as off topic with no other existing votes to close, they should probably at least make some sort of comment regarding why. If it's closed as a duplicate that's more self explanatory and points the newbie in the direction of a possible solution to their question. Otherwise it just drives the new user away, never to return.

@MichaelC Yeah, sometimes we miss calls. With fewer people active in the review queue, we sometimes have to step in, and make the wrong call, and sometimes I mean to leave a message but get interrupted or called away at that moment, and forget to come back.
@MichaelC That is a good point, and something us mods should work harder to be consistent about.
