The more I work with git and Version Control the more I'm freaked out by Excel not having an easy method of tracking changes.

@IvenBach I agree 100%. If you have different versions you can use compare sheets: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/…

If you make it a shared document you can turn on change tracking: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/…

Those features are not ideal and specifically shared workbooks with change tracking is not reliable, like git.

They replaced Shared Workbooks with something called "Co-authoring" which is a shitty version of the shared workbook that requires O365 and has way less features.

Requires Pro-plus version. Sounds like I need to advocate for a upgrade.

We tried co-authoring for about 10 minutes and then my users complained that when one user changed a filter or sort that it changed on screen for everyone. So if each person is trying to sort and filter looking for a specific line in a large document you get absolute choas, fist fights. We had to go back to the old shared workbooks which get corrupted once a month and must be restored...

So there are pros and cons you could say

My experience with co-authored workbooks was 10-12 years ago and similar.

The untracked edits that occur is really making me leery of any changes.

At least you gave me another option.
