SSMS version question: I'm running 17.9.1 on one machine and 18.9.2 on another. I've got no real desire to be running the 17.x version, but don't seem to have been prompted to update - is there a particular reason not to update it?

I've not noticed any issues with either, but I'm not using SSMS to its fullest capacity, I'm sure...

not sure what 17 has that 18 won't have but I am skeptical that you will miss anything.

? No. I am operating on the assumption that the reason 18 doesn't replace 17 because 17 has some features that 18 no longer support or something like that.

Then again, it might be just Microsoft being typically Microsoft and making things complicated for no good reason.

I know there's a keyboard shortcut for it, and occasionally I've hit it accidentally. I then managed to remember it and use it intentionally, but now I've totally forgotten...

Is it Alt-R that causes the code pane to refresh itself and go look for new tables/columns?

I think you mean ctrl+shift+r to refresh the local "intelli"sense cache.
