These items won't necessarily address Excel's memory usage. I think you'd have to have a chat with MS's Excel development team to really address that. This will, however address some of the general coding issues I noticed that should help us write easier to understand and maintain code.

As a desktop Windows developer I have always just used dotNetFrameWork. I heard about Core and Standard and tried to ignore it to the best of my abilities. Now faced with a reason to port a Framework project to Core, I found the instructions fairly straightforward. My dependencies are now all failing to load. This is quite a cluster of which version works with what. I'm wondering how long I can hide in Framework?
