[rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck] build for commit 1f39871d on unknown branch: AppVeyor build failed
BUILD FAILURE!

@Duga Expected. I need to stop opening PR for my half-baked code...

1:55 AM
Bear with me on this DerpCheck. In VS, when using FindAllReferences if a line above a result is pushed down with Enter it still goes to the original line reference. That's because it's going off the token position like RD's parser?

I'm fine if it's a close-enough approximation.

:)
there's cache invalidation involved

Hand wavey gets me comfortable enough to work with it. Experience will help me correct bad assumptions and understandings a time after that.
I've resolved the object.ToArray() issue I was fussing with earlier. Doesn't feel like it is correct, but it works.
:grumble: mumble mumble. VS acting weird. BRB rebooting everything.
Installing Antlr4.CodeGenerator.4.6.4 now appears in the status bar and never successfully installs.
Giving it some time. Walking away for a bit.

3:07 AM
I'm guessing that's not normal.
srsly VS. What do I do that makes you jerk me around like this?
:sigh:

[rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck] build for commit 0a8bb632 on unknown branch: AppVeyor build succeeded

@Duga using object seemed best. I don’t know how best to deal with a change in the type of the results.
Brain tickle says method overloading is something to look into.

> Error occurred while restoring NuGet packages: The operation failed as details for project Rubberduck.JunkDrawer could not be loaded.
That's a new one.
Got that after nuking my local RD directory and cloning.

5:30 AM
Solution explorer has all Projects with a yellow warning triangle. Going through Tools>Options>NuGet Package Manager>General>Clear All NuGet Cache(s) brings up "Error: Access to the path 'C:\Users\IvenBach\.nuget\packages\easyhook\2.7.6684\content\net40' is denied."
Something's not correct.
@IvenBach Got that cleared with a restart. Getting the 'Rubberduck.JunkDrawer' message again.
Aaaaand consistently locking up VS. My RD dev tonight is sunk. Any other suggestions?
Moving on to Unit Testing book to keep productivity moving.

@IvenBach nuking .nuget and then manually restoring might help

Q: Find list of names in other Sheet and copy them

Miriam ListI’m asking for some advice on what is the best way to tackle this problem. Use any formulas inside excel or seek an alternative version (VBA Module) In sheet1, I have 16 columns and around 200k rows. In Sheet2, I have column 8 or H given with around 500 rows of data. The goal is to look at co...

5:26 PM
@Vogel612 You still there?

somewhat?

By manual restore do you mean just building and letting nuget grab the required dependencies?
I nuked .nuget and was about to build. I've only ever really let nuget do the restore so thought I'd ask.

I thought of the "Restore NuGet Packages" context menu item
though a build will usually also run nuget restore
you could even open the NuGet console and run nuget restore from there

yup

5:30 PM
I generally need kindergarten pictures until I know what stuff is and what it does.
Whereas this is the second option you were suggesting?
@Vogel612 Tried nuget restore and got red errors. I'm misunderstanding you.

no, probably not...

:grumble: Building starts but it never progresses.

you're exactly right, I think you're looking for running just restore, maybe

Cleaning is the same, starts but never progresses or does anything.

after all it's not PS>, but PM>
@IvenBach output window does not give anything up?

5:43 PM
For clean 1>------ Clean started: Project: RubberduckTests, Configuration: Debug Any CPU ------ and never progresses.
Same for build it starts and in the status bar the icons showing components going into the bin displays but output never updates.
Solution>Context Menu>Restore NuGet Packages starts the restore, battery looking icon in status bar starts loading, but no apparent changes. Nothing to output either.
Every project has same warning triangles.

do you have Dotnet core installed?

I'm not sure. Where do I go to check?

it should be possible to build the project through the dotnet-cli application
dunno, for linux I could tell you to run which dotnet ...

If Dotnet core doesn't install w/ RD then I'm confident I don't have it.

okay.

6:04 PM
Tried another #NukeFromOrbit on the RD directory and tried with a fresh clone. Same result. I've thought of a reinstall for VS but don't believe that'll solve it.
Break time lest I get too frustrated and pull a stupid.

you seem to have a knack for killing your build in weird ways

I do want to note that it's only the RD directory that has the problem. Other repos I have locally build without issue.

  private BPELPlanHandler bpelProcessHandler;

Computers dislike me and do all they can to screw up when I'm using them.

... why the ... I don't even... WHY DID NOBODY NOTICE THIS SOONER?!

6:12 PM

Sorry, that will go on for a while.

6:32 PM
On a lark I tried a fresh clone to desktop and still same issue.
:sigh:

poke @this suggestions?

5 hours later…
11:27 PM
@IvenBach just to rule out the obvious, did you have any projects showing as unavailable or unloaded? if so, did you reload those?

@this I don't believe so. But explicitly hand-hold me through it #JustInCase I don't understand.

in the solution explorer you should see all 18 projects loaded. if they aren’t they will show up as such

All are there. Checked context for each one to verify they all say Unload Project, ensuring they are loaded.

ok. close solution. open the rubberduckmeta.sln solution
are they all loaded?

Yes.

11:32 PM
can you build the meta solution? notebthat you may need to restart vs if you already built rubberduck in same vs session

Meta solution?

did you open the rubberduckmeta.sln?

that is rubberduck.sn

Those are :derp: you asked me to open 'rubberduckmeta.sln'. Trying that.
Yeah #ImAnIdiot and can't read properly.
rubberduckmeta.sln builds without issue.

11:37 PM
good. now close, go back to rubberduck.sln
can you build junkdraweer only?

Doesn't look like it.

first error from output please.

Wouldn't that be nice?
Yeah... about that. No output shows.

don’t bother with error list. read the output
wtf
nothing at all?

11:41 PM
why are there two vs!
?

My unit test book.
Working through examples.
When I stop the build by trying to close VS I get output.

let’s rule out. close and amke sure there is only one devenv in taskmgr

1>------ Build started: Project: Rubberduck.JunkDrawer, Configuration: Debug Any CPU ------
1>C:\Users\IvenBach\source\repos\Rubberduck\RubberduckBaseProject.csproj : warning MSB4011: "C:\Users\IvenBach\.nuget\packages\sunburst.net.sdk.wpf\1.0.47\Sdk\Sdk.props" cannot be imported again. It was already imported at "C:\Users\IvenBach\source\repos\Rubberduck\Rubberduck.JunkDrawer\Rubberduck.JunkDrawer.csproj". This is most likely a build authoring error. This subsequent import will be ignored.
1>C:\Users\IvenBach\source\repos\Rubberduck\Rubberduck.JunkDrawer\Rubberduck.JunkDrawer.csproj : warn

ok. build all
did u have two vs open last night?

No.

11:44 PM
ok. let’s see what happens

In the status bar it shows 'Synchronizing FooBar ...` runs through each of the projects and then shows 'Ready' in bottom left without showing any output.

is foobar changing or filling up?

Yes. It runs through them all too fast for me to read each individually.

k. clean and rebuild

Clean starts and no output is shown, other than:
1>------ Clean started: Project: RubberduckTests, Configuration: Debug Any CPU ------

11:48 PM
i think your msbuild is borked.
close all devenv and kill mabuild via task mgr

there may be multiple instances of msbuild, exe. kill them all

Those two icons usually stay showing and indicating they are building. As an FYI.
Killed the singular devenv that was open.
Don't see any msbuild.

ok. restart vs and try build

Still same outcome. 'Build started...' in bottom left of status bar, icons showing it's compiling in the middle, yet no output.

11:56 PM
do u see any msbuild in task mgr?

Yes. 6 of them.

hm. that is a lot....
usually i only see one orbtwo
how many cores so u have
