Q: Is there a way to make this vba code faster

RagingDeathWishwhat i'm trying to do here is to open an excel file and then search and copy/store the data i need (i.e if there is a reference than i copy 2 columns).Afterwards, i paste or write that data into a word table (already exists in my template). Thus, here is my question: Is there a way to make run fa...

I shut down 1 of my 2 Firefox windows before rebooting my PC on Friday. Now all my skiwi'd bookmarks are gone because FF won't "restore previous session" since it already opened one window. I miss my old plugins...

try reopen tab (Ctrl+Shift+T)

reopened the one tab I closed in this window. reopened about 6 that had been closed in the other. The other 20, 30, 40 tabs seem to be lost in the ether.
Note to self: Let FF shut itself down when rebooting machine. It seems to remember both windows and their contents just fine that way.

@FreeMan There's a bookmark feature for a reason...

yeah... I've reopened a few tabs that I need for work purposes and bookmarked them now.
In days gone by, I'd collected hundreds of bookmarks to pages I never returned to. I had nice, neat organized folders and everything. They got lost to the ages during some upgrade or another in the past.

2:02 PM
@FreeMan that happened to me at home, i had 20-30 tabs that are gone :(
windows update did me in though

@KySoto If I had a nickle for every time that happened!

lol
then youd have 30 cents?

@KySoto eehhhhh... Windows updates have rebooted my machine multiple times when it was incredibly inconvenient (like when I was working on it). I've also had a number of update failures that continued to retry and never succeed. I had to go find some instructions on how to clean up the mess it made so it could start over.

> **Justification**
Having spent the last few months doing just about only writing VBA, it has become painfully clear to me that the VBE's lack of HTML documentation generator (Javadoc, Scaladoc, etc). It's not a huge deal when you are doing everything solo, but it's a much bigger deal when someone else is trying to use your code. An HTML documentation generator would help tremendously. I assume if anyone could excel at this, it would be Rubberduck. I have tried some other documentation too

@FreeMan drag them to a folder somewhere that’s been git inited to practice working with git and have them saved. That’s how live gotten comfortable using got myself.

@IvenBach You got some instructions on how to get them off of some old (currently unremembered machine) on some old (probably WinXP) operating system, or, possibly back out of del.iciou.us?
@IvenBach So. Much. This!!!

> Some thoughts on implementation:

Sandcastle uses a two step process to generate documentation from XML comments. First it uses reflection to get the doc comments from the code to build an intermediary file, then it turns that intermediary file into the actual output documentation.

If we can use our parser to generate that intermediate XML document, Sandcastle could be used to generate the final documents. This would save the RD community the effort of generating and formatting the final

@Julian Read the link to understand the issues with HN - it's a simple fix in this code and won't require you to chuck it at all, just make some minor adjustments. Rubberduck is a great add-in for the VBE that will help you find and fix these types of "gotchas" and will help you considerably as a new VBA programmer. (I'm a fan & constant user, and have made some minor contributions to the open-source project.) — FreeMan 17 secs ago

> Sidenote: As it stands multiline documentation will require adjustments to the parser. Either to support multiline annotations or to add support for documentation comments.

I think we might have it easier decoupling the documentation from the annotation system

@FreeMan Realistic instructions? No. Time machine maybe.

> Whatever works! I do like the idea of being able to specify "documentation types". For example, a way to specify that a procedure raises an error or to specify that a procedure accepts variants for a certain reason.

With the lack of multi-line, I assume that would make something like sample code hard to implement.

@IvenBach I like how instructions are "unrealistic", but a time machine is "maybe".

I lost so many files over the years I've gotten used to it.

@Vogel612 when I run git status it says "Your branch is up to date with 'origin/master'." it's referring to the local copy of origin/master. Then when I do a git fetch and check git status the message "Your branch is behind 'origin/master' by 4 commits, and can be fast-forwarded." because it pulled down commits from the external repo.

yes

:+1: Ermagawd I'm understanding it.

If no commits had been pushed on the weekend then my local origin/master would have been in sync.
Failing with get has finally let to succeeding with git.
Thanks again for your initial patience.

I'm trying to fix a default setting but can't figure it out.
I migrated a class to its own file in Rubberduck.Core.Settings.ToDoGridViewColumnInfo.cs.
In Rubberduck.Core>Settings i'm trying to update the Type to match and I continually get the error message that it's not defined.

yea it's sometimes weird like that...

Any idea as to how to fix it?
I've tried restarting VS but now I'm getting an error when viewing the properties.
> Could not resolve mscorlib for target framework '.NETFramework,Version=v4.6'. This can happen if the target framework is not installed or if the framework moniker is incorrectly formatted.

9:35 PM
@IvenBach pretty sure that this is msbuild talking out of it's backside

May be. But I'm a dead duck in the water because of it right now.

Computer restart seems to have resolved it.

σ.σ How can I get these properties to be have a type of System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection<Rubberduck.Settings.GridViewColumnInfo> so I can use them as the defaults. :pooh-bear-thinking-hat:
