@mansellan didn’t this indicate we need a host but not possible via the rabbit hole of COM?

@mansellan found this - it's a bit old and hopefully outdated, but seems to imply Core (2.0) wouldn't work on 32-bit. I don't mind dropping Vista, but dropping 32-bit would mean dropping VB6. Does 3.0 claim to work on 32-bit too?

hm, a user was removed

I lost 85 rep to that

-150 (CR)

It seems to be a pretty big deal
Meta exploded with several questions regarding it
Some people lost over 4 digits

4:00 PM
55 rep here.
Must've been someone pretty big.
I thought they said something about implementing a system where people with several thousand in rep wouldn't cause users to lose rep when removed?

any rep acquired more than 6 months ago is set in stone

> This removal occurs whenever a user is deleted, unless that user had a very high reputation score. Because high-reputation users have usually cast a great many votes, removing all of them could be that much more disruptive to other users. In such cases, the staff use a special deletion that preserves the votes, resulting in no reputation change for those who had been voted on by that user.
I was right.

@bruglesco huh what?

Nice solution but I have to disable my adblock to get ctrl+shift+v to work on firefox... not happening. — pyCthon 59 secs ago

you mean... MSE?
because here on CR Meta there was nothing about some deleted user

4:07 PM
But, it's the wrong metric. Removing a high-rep user doesn't affect others--removing someone who gave a lot of rep does.
Take Eric Lippert, for example...

@Vogel612 sorry I meant MSE

A: Change the criteria for vote retention upon account removal

animusonRegarding request 1: That's already how it works. "High reputation" is a generic way to explain what happens that isn't super confusing. A help center article isn't meant to go into all the explicit details, but rather just highlight the generic functionalities. Users get held up based on their ...

@PeterJ apparently they were among the top 10 all-time voters on Super User — Olli Niemitalo 2 days ago

That's not very transparent... I just lost 1790 points, which strikes me as above the threshold. — Yuval Filmus 2 days ago

@MathieuGuindon welll .... that's kinda the point of votes...

The threshold is for review. They still reserve the right to invalidate all of the votes.

4:17 PM
@bruglesco wait, there are people that vote on SU?

The threshold just means that an employee manual went through with the vote removal
@MathieuGuindon haha I wouldn't know. That place is a bit intimidating for the likes of me.
There might as well be a sign that reads "Here be Dragons"

IDK, the few times I dared answering there, I was lucky to get as much as a +1
case in point, I lost exactly 0 rep on SU lol

lol
Well I only lost 15 rep across three sites. So clearly I wasn't in their radar.

@MathieuGuindon I found your problem.
The HTML spec doesn't allow div in an a tag.
The opening div tag will automatically close the a tag.

ha, nice!

4:31 PM
It's basically an issue with inline/block elements.

I had already removed like 3 layers of nested divs there

p is another common place this happens.
LOL.
You'll need to look into making that div a span, or something.
You can use CSS to make it look the same.
Or I could try. It doesn't see the images on my system, but it does build on VS 2019.
Oh, you had ~Content. It should be ~/Content.
Oh, and instead of taking 3 random highlights, you could use a bootstrap carousel and just show three on the page, and let it scroll automatically with a fix timer.

Thought of doing that, went "eh good enough"
but yeah

@Url.Content(highlight.ImageUrl) in the img tag fixed the images :)

fwiw images don't seem to load with the tilde, with or without the slash. removed the tilde and all is good
Oh cool

4:38 PM
Oh.
But yeah, you just need to tell it how to find them :)
OK, I'll PR my fix.
Holy crap, your CSS styling...

lol, feel free to fix whatever

Fix DOM errors
Clean up CSS styling

Wait...
That was supposed to go to my repo...

OK, I just redirected my origin to point at mine.
Are we missing some settings with the indentor?

4:51 PM
Probably, yes
Would be nice if it could be tweaked to no longer require posting, and instead just live-refresh some formatted preview box
Although, the nbsp would mess up copy-pasting to SO
eh, and without a post we'd lose the ability to eventually record usage stats
probably best to keep the mechanics as-is

I think you'd need to post it anyway, unless you want to implement it in JS.
However, it's probably fast enough that you could use posting and do live-refresh anyway, with a typing time-out.

^ that

Like, 700ms after they press the key.
We do that a lot at work.

You got auto-deploy setup on Azure yet?
I can post a few pictures if you want.
On the next page pick the App Build Service.
You'll need to give it permission to that repo.

xltrail is one that I've wanted to look into for a while now. Well done pond.

@MathieuGuindon You think they'd be amenable to handing out us some free xltrail licences?

@IvenBach no idea... MVPs can probably get one

I should really work on becoming on of those :p

=)
I'll know in a little more than 1 month whether or not I get a little 2019-2020 piece to put on my award... totally entering "acceptance" phase, where I start accepting that the ride is coming to an end

11:34 PM
I don't see who you wouldn't be renewed. You're still writing articles and blogging about Excel/VBA.

but, ...*enough*?

mumble mumble shrug. You're asking someone that has no clue how to start on the path to becoming an MVP...

Does RD have an inspection flagging : for when it allows Dim foo as Long : foo = 5?
