> I just tried this in VB6 with the current build (my only 32-bit host ATM), and it was able to process this library and gave me what appears to be a complete serialization. Note that I do not have SAP installed, and it is possible that this library uses some forward references from an SAP library.

There were a couple minor tweaks in the library reader (although I can't imagine any of the changes would have resolved this). Would it be possible for you to test this again with the current build

> Duplicates are an easy fix (PR inbound). The BTW "quickfix for all occurrences in module throws an error" appears to be due to the selection logic in the `GetQualifiedMemberName` ([here](https://github.com/rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck/blob/next/Rubberduck.CodeAnalysis/Inspections/Results/IdentifierReferenceInspectionResult.cs#L25)).

This asserts on the "in procedure" quick-fix also. The problem seems to simply be that there are multiple matching enclosures.

@Duga unless I'm way behind, doesn't look like it

Concurrency issue? That's the only reason I can come up with why they would pass when run individually and not when running all tests.

what's failing?
weird
re-building

The 3 failing tests all use serialized declarations.

yeah I noticed... but.. they're not the only ones...

I think there's a problem with the mock parser.
Everything's cool when they're "live", and all of them pass when run singly.
if (CachedReferences.TryGetValue(reference, out var cachedDeclarations))
^ Looking at you, StaticCachingReferencedDeclarationsCollectorDecorator

3:39 AM
hmm

That only gets called from the mock parser. I wonder if that should block until the TryGetValue succeeds.

Hi folks. Pulled and Rebuilded newest version from Git and my Settings won't open. Anybody with the same problem?

7:26 AM
Do you have a settings file from version 1.4.3? If yes, delete it.

I'm syncing the 4027, and I got those files as conflicted. They are apparently deleted from the next branch. This does not seem right. Does anyone know why those needs to be deleted?

@Comintern Part of the problem is that we are caching at the wrong point in the tests now.
Since the declarations are no longer loaded from file, they should not be cached.
Instead the COMProjects loaded from file should be cached to avoid loading them over and over from file.
Thus, the serialized projects serializer needs an interface (for the loading part) and a caching decorator.
Btw, I explicitly stated that the cache is not thread safe and that tests should not be run in parallel as a consequence.
It could be made thread-safe by wrapping everything in a lock though (or at least the try get and the insert into the dictionary).

7:56 AM
@this worked it out - it's actually me who deleted the file - I misread thinking someone else had deleted file but in reality it was modified which caused the conflict with this branch.

@Hosch250 welcome back!
Stored Procedure design question: I have a query in mind that will be used a lot to return data for a report. Sometimes I need the data as an aggregate of locations over a time period, sometimes I need the same data for a specific location (or locations) over a time period.
Would it make sense to write 1 SP that has a WHERE Location like @LocationParm and pass in % when I need all locations, (or A% when I need locations matching that), or should I write 2 different SPs, 1 without the Location check, one with?

@FreeMan #ItDepends - both might work fine and in the case where I need to know, it's best to experiment first.

@all any thoughts on SCP backspace not working as intended (though not in a completely borked kind of way) when deleting an empty string in the middle of a logical code line?

@MathieuGuindon what I'm not clear is what was the original input code?

I'll play with SCP some more tonight and see if anything annoying sticks out, but if the only itchy spot is that edge case then I'm ok with it
        var original = "foo = \"\" & _\r\n      \"\" & _\r\n      \"|\" & _\r\n      \"\"".ToCodeString();
        var expected = "foo = \"\" & _\r\n      \"|\" & _\r\n      \"\"".ToCodeString();
and:
        var original = "foo = \"\" _\r\n      & \"\" _\r\n      & \"|\" _\r\n      & \"\"".ToCodeString();
        var expected = "foo = \"\" _\r\n      & \"|\" _\r\n      & \"\"".ToCodeString();

yeah
@Duga oh, now what

hm. I'm thinking this is actually preferable if all I did was backspace. What if I intended to delete a literal and put in an expression?

@MathieuGuindon make some string constants!
^inspection idea!!

@this well the idea is to have backspace work symetrically with smart-concat

2:05 PM
well, I shift+enter to smart-concat, right?

no
just enter while inside the string literal
ctrl+enter to concat & vbNewLine & _

hmm
@Duga isn't that an error that used to be usually ignored?

it works flawlessly if you're backspacing in the last line, just not if you're in the middle of the logical line

cos it looks like it successfully built

yeah but there's no GH tag for it

2:07 PM
ah

@FreeMan I'll take that over "made me cringe" ;-)

so just to clarify - with the scenario where I'm editing 3rd logical line to be an expression instead of literal, my backspacing the opening " would have put me on the 2nd logical line, still inside the string literal. I then have to arrow right, type space + _, then enter the expression adn then space?

Interesting... If you can't read a calendar and attempt to pass 9/31/2018 to a function expecting a date parameter, you get a Type Mismatch error. Thanks for that helpful pointer, VBE...

@this wouldn't you just go where you want to insert the expression and just type it instead?

2:14 PM
but I have to delete the original literal that I want to replace as an expression?

@Duga wth? make up your mind!

@MathieuGuindon might have been a timeout
99.9% of timeouts => panic alarms over nothing

2:15 PM
@this to be clear... this is only when the backspacing results in the SCP getting removed and leaving only the concatenation on the current line

eventually

i.e. it's pretty much an edge case

so if I'm ` "foo"| & _`
and I backspace this 5 times (?), I will be left with ` | & _` ?

yes
that's vanilla behavior though

but if I'm ` "foo|" & _ `, and I backspace 4 times, I will be on the previous logical line, right?

2:17 PM
physical line, assuming the previous line is in the same logical line

sorry, yes
Ok, now that I typed that out, it makes sense for backspacing ` "|" & _` to end up on the previous line

actually, since you're ending with & _, then there's another line underneath, and that's the edge case - your backspacing gets you | & _

I guess it'd be only a bit annoying. Not very often that I will edit several lines in the middle.

morning

hi!
@this yeah. that said you do get the full "" removal, so there's that
it's annoying in the sense that it's clearly not what the feature intends to do, but IMO not something to block the PR over

2:22 PM
Actually that got me thinking - how many of us do edit the multiple lines to fit the horizontal size? I do this for block comments but not really for string literals. Does anyone else?

im not exactly the best example, but i never use line continuations

I don't. picked it up when testing/playing with smart-concat deletion
(which is going to happen - people will fiddle around and see how it behaves)

@this I do, particularly for formatting SQL queries. BUT I'm being a good boy and starting to refactor those out, so I probably won't for very much longer.

@FreeMan Good boy rumples head
:P

SQL strings are definitely a use-case here
@this actually, I sometimes do, esp. when there are line breaks in the string.
there could even be an option to "ensure string literal line ends with a space"

2:30 PM
even for my SQL strings, I don't worry about horizontal size, typically.

my OCD can hardly stand SELECT, FROM, WHERE not being in the same column :)
then again, depends on the length of the thing
"select * from thing where abc=1234", I wouldn't bother

same here

@Hosch250 Almost as big a smile as the new yellar ducky!

anything involving joins though...

@MathieuGuindon I like that one

SELECT foo, barFROM table has bitten everyone at least once, right?

Who, me? No, nevar...

@MathieuGuindon No.
Because I don't do my SQL like that.

@Hosch250 Good boy rumples head
:)

yeah I use views all the time too

I mean, I don't concatenate SQL strings in my code :P

2:35 PM
#depends
        var sql = $"select * from mrp.[{table}]";
^ that hardly counts as concatenating though
        var sql = $"select * from mrp.[{table}] where [Id]=@id";
Note, this is one of the 75+ (maybe 80 at this point) code inspections in Rubberduck (disclaimer: I manage this OSS project), which would have caught (and fixed) this problem. — Mathieu Guindon 30 secs ago

Hm, if your DB is stupid, the resulting query will not work.
Square brackets are legal in table names and have to be escaped in a specific way.

@MathieuGuindon I don't put SQL strings in my code, period :)

@M.Doerner my DBs are never stupid though :)
(I like to think so)

@MathieuGuindon not including Sage? :D

my DBs
    [MapsTo("Categories")]
    public class Category : EntityBase
    {
        [MapsTo("CollectionId")]
        public Collection Collection { get; set; }
        public string Code { get; set; }
        public string Description { get; set; }

technically, Sage DB is also yours, if we are talking about DB under your management as opposed to who created the schema. ;)

2:56 PM
I have a lot of sql strings in my code. I have no creation rights on our DB. So, I have to fake stored procedures.

@Hosch250 I don't put SQL strings in my EF CRUD apps either :)

And it has to be in VBA. So, there are no fancy ORM frameworks available.

        [RemoteKey("ICCATG", "CATEGORY")]
        public string SageCode { get; set; }

        [RemoteKey("GXCOLH", "COLHKEY")]
        public string SageSizeCode { get; set; }
    }
made myself an "ORM" here

Q: How can pilots minimize parasite drag?

AbdullWhat can pilots do to minimize parasite drag? As far as I know the effect of parasite drag really depends on the manufacturer of the airplane, but can pilots do anything about it?

I want to say "fumigate the plane to kill the parasites, then keep to doors closed to keep the parasites out", but they're not quite as into the humor over there as we are here...
@MathieuGuindon Overly Rounded Mathematics?

Object/Relational Mapper

3:08 PM
\o

Got an IMappedEntity implementation for every table; most derived from EntityBase. Then a base repository class that handles 99% of everything I need to do with these entities, including fetching rows from a different database (aka "remote keys" to the Sage db) so that my view knows what valid values to load into dropdowns
long live reflection and custom attributes

does RD do 64 bit? im being lazy and not looking

of course it does =)

thats good
so ive come to the conclusion i have a lot of function prototypes
and its probably a good idea to 64-bit proof them
sigh

@KySoto Definitely a good idea.
Since there's a not too unreasonable chance of them being used in 2032 still.
Just think. 13.5 more years, and x86 will be dead.

3:28 PM
i dont honestly believe you
:P
the hard part in all of this is knowing if i need to alter the prototype declaration
the ones that use hwnd are easy, bucause i know that partiular parameter is supposed to be a longptr

@KySoto Yeah, well, those people will be living in the 1970s...

@M.Doerner Makes sense. I'll give that a go when I get off work.

(I think that's one of my best puns ever.)

lol

@KySoto that's what MSDN Docs is for

3:31 PM
#TIL Ctrl+' is much simpler than Ctrl+\, Ctrl+M to get to TeamExplorer in VS.

@this sigh

Glad I didn't have a tree on my car this morning. Windy today and a few small/med trees blew over onto cars.

3:49 PM
@IvenBach but what about all the air on your car?!?

It's blowing over it?

and pressing down on it!

That pressure is designed for. An abrupt tree fall not so much.
Sematics check: FileUploadPath | FileUploadLocation | FileUploadFolder. Which is preferred?

I always find myself needing to disambiguate between a path and a name. So I name my variable to reflect that fact.
"C:\foo\bar\` => FileUploadPath; bar\` => 'FileUploadDirectoryName`

Do you consider Name to just be the file name of Foo.xls?
I've seen some have FullName include Path & Name

3:56 PM
Yeah. Inconsistent conventions. :\
Foo.xls is the file's name

@MathieuGuindon Me.Range(| and typing double quote produces Me.Range ( ""|") when used on a worksheets code behind.

interesting
i had code that worked till i moved the enum to a different module (consolidating all of that stuff)

@IvenBach consistently?

Every time.

Our designers made these fancy slide templates and it just seems like all the stock photos ones shouldn't go to waste.

3:59 PM
@MathieuGuindon Me.Range(|) and typing " --> Me.Range (""")
