Today's crossword @Jafe was another excellent one, I must say. I'm not sure I've ever done a printer's devilry one before, so I took my opportunity. I spotted the theme after solving 3 of them (SUNS, POWER and BLUES) and twigging that these were likely sports team names. Ending up learning more about Aussie Rules than I've known before! :)

glad you liked it! i'm not entirely satisfied with some of the p.d. clues where the surface is just nonsense (and you can therefore immediately guess the clue type)... some of those words just turned out to be pretty hard to fit into a sentence nicely :)

How exactly do they work?

in a printer's devilry clue you have to insert a word of the specified length into the clue so that it still makes sense

you're allowed to change spacing, punctuation and capital letters but not the order of the letters in the clue

they're not really cryptic clues, it's an entirely separate clue type

I'v never seen those before, those must be devilish (pun intended)

they're pretty rare... looks like the tag has 12 puzzles as of now
