@Jafe C4 hint: One of these is correct in this case.

@bobble that sounds frustrating as all heck
My IRL name is pronounced differently by American English speakers Vs British English speakers

9:14 AM
@AncientSwordRage I suspect that's true of most names, or at least most English ones.

@msh210 I mean, more differently than most
it's not exactly /ɡɹæm/ vs. /ˈɡɹeɪ.əm/ but by my estimation it's close

My first name is easy enough for people to pronounce, but there are several common mispronunciations of my last name, and the count of people who have pronounced my middle name correctly fits on two hands.

...nobody pronounces my name correctly...
Of course, most people avoid the issue by just forgetting what it is and calling me either by my last name or just making something up and going "that sounds right".
I've learned to respond to "American!" "Nerd!" "A-hole!" as well as pretty much any name or nickname that starts with the same letter as my first name.

I am an equal-opportunity name forgetter; I forget everyone, not just the people with difficult-to-pronounce names!
You can conduct a lot of conversation without names or pronouns, and I know all the tricks to do so

oh, yeah, I am horrible at remembering names

(If I read your name? I'll probably remember it.)
@bobble As of Sunday there were no comments with that typo on either MSE or PSE

Hang on, Americans don't even use metres, and now they're telling the rest of us how to spell them? Do we tell Americans how to spell Arkansas? — Dawood ibn Kareem 19 hours ago
