@Jafe at one point i thought the country was australia due to "alice springs"... and then my certainty was completely thrown out of the window when i struggled to find saint georges in australia
@oAlt i thought about adding a note that there may be other geographical answers but decided it wasn't necessary as long as there's only one possible group of 5 for the final answer
my best guess was double-definition of balinese which has many many problems :P
1) the wrong amount of letters, 2) not buddhist but hindu, 3) probably not referred to as just "balinese" anyway and 4) even if it was, it would really only be a single definition as both definitions mean "something from bali"
@Anonymus25-ReinstateMonica I think I'm missing something; how is that a cryptic clue? I mean, it is literally an Indonesian temple dedicated to Buddhists. It's like "Fruit that's long and yellow" cluing BANANA.

@Anonymus25-ReinstateMonica I think you're confused as to what &lit means - an &lit clue is one where the entire clue acts as both the definition and the wordplay - an example: "First person to be USA's #2! (5)" (source) def: john ADAMS, America's first vice president; wordplay: ADAM (First person) + _S_ (USA's #2)
So Jafe's CCCC from a while back, "Get rid of announcer's small hesitation (4,3) = WEED OUT" isn't an &lit: the definition is "get rid of", and the wordplay is a homophone (clued by "announcer's") of "small hesitation" = WEE DOUBT ~ WEED OUT; the definition is one half and the wordplay is the other half, so it isn't an &lit
