For some reason, after resuming posting activity here it's been all answers, whereas before I was doing almost all questions... not entirely sure what the cause is. And not even just answers to grid-deductions!

CCCC hints: 1. The fifth letter is E. 2. "for" does not clue a letter/word replacement. 3. "twirling" is neither an anagram nor a reversal indicator.
And again, another one of my CCs remains unsolved for nearly a week... Maybe I should just accept my fate at this point (or maybe I should make fairer clues)
Actually, given the past discussion, I don't think this current hint is all that helpful, lemme think of a different one...

Q: What is the age of the old man?

ThomasLIn autumn of the year 2003 an old man was asked about his age. He answered: "I was born on a Sunday morning in summer and I celebrated my seventh birthday on a Sunday morning too!" How old was the man, when he was asked about his age in 2003?

Based on the latest hint, I wonder whether the C4 has definition "Power" and wordplay along the lines of the classic "two girls, one on each knee" clue.
Oh, I see @Jafe already thought of that.

Sid
One I can think of, is BATTERY meaning Power (I guess in a source of power thing) and battery also refers to a pair of Catcher + Pitcher in Baseball

@LukasRotter, you could make a proper "ratio dot" in Penpa by setting it to input on borders and using the Shape tool

Sid
Very tenuous, I would add. I am not sure what twirling is doing too

@bobble Ah yes, thanks! Edited

@Sid That's correct! If you're wondering about "twirling," "twirl" can also mean "to pitch a baseball", so "a twirling pair" = "a pair that's involved with pitching" = BATTERY

And of course, I had an alternate to clue that: "Hitter adversary, in the end! (7)" = BATTERY (BATTER + _Y, &lit)
