I really feel like it's BANDITRY, but not sure how the wordplay would work

I really feel like it’s going to be necessary for Deus to give us the first through fifth letters too before I’ll get this. And even then I’m not sure :)

Q: How to connect a chessboard and a cipher into puzzle?

NickLet's say you have (a) a chessboard with figures and (b) a text from a book. The figures configuration is the Cardan grille, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardan_grille When you put the chessboard on the text, you need to read the word from the letters that are under the figures. Question. Ho...

Q: Rubiks 3x3 Cube Solution - an old method to relearn (3 corner rotation)

pom15595I am trying to relearn a method for solving the 3x3 Rubik’s cube that I was taught many years ago by a departed relative – it is for this reason that I want to relearn this method, eventhough it is not the quickest method. (eg there is no “white cross” in this method). The method follows the fol...

Q: Does the puzzle have a unique solution?

NickLet's say you have a sphere-maze. The sphere is fixed on the fixed half-ring (1) and two independent rings (2) and (3). These rings are connected at point A. Inside the sphere one can see a small ball (point B). When you are rotate two rings, the ball begins to spin. Suppose that the initi...

Can "Elementary boy (2)" clue H2 (ddef)

9:26 AM
@OmegaKrypton I've no idea how "Elementary" or "boy" means "H2". Also, numerals are not usually used in crosswords (though there are exceptions).
CCCC solution: OCAPITA. The wordplay is "SUPPORTER OF ENDING TO CAPITALISM obstructs by seizing", meaning it contains as a substring, and the definition is "means of gathering resources", because pinterest.com/ocapita is a vehicle-rental business.

Q: I think this one is pretty interesting.. can u figure this one out?

Prim3numbah11, 12, 26, 615, 153X, ? Just to clarify, the "X" stands for a single digit and the "?" stands for the next number in the sequence.

@user58 not this time, it has too few letters :-)

@OmegaKrypton I don't think "elementary" can mean "He" in a cryptic. In a regular crossword, "Elementary boy?" can mean "He", I think, as a punny clue.

Q: A Boring Lecture - ft. Eggs, Donuts

Omega Krypton You were yawning at your seat, being forced to attend this will-be-boring lecture by an always-boring teacher… “Good morning class, today, we’ll look into the use of different materials. Well, as we all know, cracking eggshells and doughnuts can make our bones stronger…” ...

@msh210 have fun

@OmegaKrypton did you mean "apprehension" or "comprehension"?
(near the end)

it's fine, it means "understanding"
thanks for reminding tho

2:48 PM
it can mean understanding but usually means worry
comprehension is better unless you need apprehension for the puzzle

on the other hand, misapprehension is always the former rather than the latter

@GarethMcCaughan yeah

I agree that if the puzzle allows then "comprehension" works better in this instance

Q: A Boring Lecture - ft. Eggs, Donuts & Pills

Omega Krypton You were yawning at your seat, being forced to attend this will-be-boring lecture by an always-boring teacher… “Good morning class, today, we’ll look into the use of different materials. Well, as we all know, cracking eggshells and doughnuts can make our bones stronger…” ...

@OmegaKrypton There are other oddities of English, too, but those are in the professor's speech fragments so I assume are on purpose for the puzzle purposes. I'll mention them here anyway just in case they were accidental: "And no one or animals can survive without eggs" should be "And no person or animal can survive without eggs". "cracking eggshells and doughnuts can make our bones stronger" should probably be "cracked eggshells and doughnuts can make our bones stronger".
@OmegaKrypton thanks

ending to capitalism is M... obstructing BY so it's B(M)Y... seizing (something) so B(xxxxx)(M)Y
not sure how "supporter of" could contribute to the wordplay so i assume it's (a part of) the def

the solution is BMYGUEST, with jafe's observations + guest=supporter, the definition is seizing means of gathering resources

5:42 PM
@Quintec the Puzzling user? What does he have to do with anything?

@Deusovi PROMOTER (supporter) is PER (by) “seizing” ROOT (means of gathering resources, for a plant) -> PROOTER, “obstruct[ed]” by _M.
That was fiendish.
True confession time - I was actually trying to come up with a plausible #BadC4Solution when I accidentally solved it for real :)

CCCC: Forcibly remove right to clear need (7)

@Rubio very nice

Credit to @Deusovi. I just solved it. Making it was probably harder. :)

I really wanted to use "means of production", but I figured that would be sketchy at best and the clue was hard enough as-is

8:08 PM
@ThePuzzlingPlatypus joke

I think “gathering resources” was actually harder - if for no other reason than I had to take seriously the potential that it in fact meant _E_+_U_
(Or GR for similar reason)

ah fair enough

Though I suppose UC could be argued for in the single word case, it doesn’t seem as likely to be written that way

@Rubio How's that?
