This means that, before White can move, they must legally put a single piece on them board. However, there is a special requirement that must be fulfilled by the piece drop. The Requir...

Q: Peterhead Codes and Ciphers Club: Weekly Challenge

Joshua BizleyThis is one of the cipher-based challenges I have created for my club. This is a lengthy puzzle so feel free to post partial answers. My golden rule is that moving something that isn't glued down never results in a loss of information, so the way the pieces in the picture happen to be laid out...

@Mithrandir i have a feeling there's a story behind this

@jafe Well, I run an escape room. Earlier today I had the worst ever group. They... did not do well.

@Mithrandir Sooooooo how many things did they break?

They didn't break stuff, they just understood nothing. Found nothing. Opened nothing. They literally sat there for ten minutes looking at the stuff without moving.
I had to completely walk them through it, and I added nearly half an hour to their time.
Luckily for them, there wasn't a group scheduled immediately after.

I guess you could say that they broke you!

Although bad groups might not be the absolute worst. That honor might be reserved for those who bring along screaming babies.

@Mithrandir you don't run the one atop Cinema City in J-m, do you?

4:14 PM
@msh210 I do not, I'm in the North.

5:10 PM
@Mithrandir Its theme is based on the movie The Ring, a horror film. I went with a work group recently and we didn't know the theme before we went. Turns out one of our number was traumatized by that film as a kid and took years to get over it. She was not happy (though she went through the escape room anyway).

Oy. Well, the one I run is unlikely to traumatize anyone, but I'll avoid giving more details than that for now ;)

Q: Is it easier to control an unfair die than a fair die?

DewtonFirst of all, I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, I wanted to post it at the mathematics community but also wasn't too sure. I read somewhere that when dice are fair, the odds are always with the casino. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Which also makes me question...
