@Sphinx When I saw this xkcd, I pretty quickly saw what was going on. But it took me a minute or two more to notice that he'd owned up to it in the title: it's an "A" crossword puzzle.

I'm guessing the definition is at the end and the answer is "the" + something something. I'm also hoping that "Stiv" remains as is in the wordplay. And chances are whatever the answer is, I've never heard it before.

the next set of puzzles I have in PDF (e.g. like puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/119212/…) are... thermo-dokus. I think they are probably actually impossible to transcribe

It is possible I will actually resort to printing out the PDF this time. I like to be able to flip back and forth, visually see all the solutions together, etc. which I couldn't do in Penpa. Also it would be a pain to make so many Penpas.

@oAlt I fear that I have made the def too obscure. It's a bit of an in-joke about an ongoing event and you may not have heard it before. The def is googlable, though as a phrase from a song. The first word is not "the".
