@Stiv I also thought of that but it wasn't immediate. I had to remember that that works only in non-rhotic accents
In any case, it's surprising that I haven't cracked this given that there's only so much types of meat
There's veal as well
4:56 AM
CCCC Hint: The solution does not involve birds.
"air force" fits "flyers"
fair oars aren't gammon meats, though
Neither is fair 'orse, because gammon meats are from pigs.
heheh
By the way, insects are allowed.
Maybe.
...but I can't find any flying insect with the enumerations (3, 4) or (3, 5).
5:25 AM
gammon means to trick so it could be unrelated to the meats part in what's being spoonerised
still assuming that the answer is indeed a spoonerism
That's true, but what about the definition?
@PolygonPotpourri same
Is it possible it's a (3 3)? Gas, for example, is 3 letters, but its plural is gases which is 5
Perhaps; may fly to may flies would work, but flay my's isn't a synonym of 'gammon meats'.
And using fly both in the answer and in the definition isn't ideal
fly being involved is unlikely with "flyers" in the clue imo
yeah, that ^
damn now it points at my own comment instead of oAlt's

"Broad Street Bullies" isn't (3,5)
Sup Ermen may work?
...no, Up Sermon isn't a synonym of 'gammon meats'.
6:27 AM
@PolygonPotpourri no, that's not a phrase (as far as I know)
@msh210 Try removing the space.
yeah, I know, but the enumeration here is 3,5, not 8
@msh210 Fair.
The only 3,5 aircrafts (plural) I can find are SEA KINGS, but as far as I can tell "gammon meats" doesn't clue "quay/key sings".
7:02 AM
Flyers are does (both terms for female kangaroos); flyers for Spooner's = "does pro" → "prose doe" which is gammon meats, which are a much more prosaic version of doe (venison) hence are "prose doe". #GreatC4Solutions

8:32 AM
Right, aircraft is also possible
in fact, air craft is 3,5… but craire aft isn't gammon meats afaict
air ships likewise

I don't want to chicken out of this, but I can't really find anything helpful.

Q: What is the pattern here?

Konrad VilterstenA friend showed me one of those pattern matrices, which I usually enjoy resolving. However, this this particular case, I can't seem to even understand the underlying logic. I noticed that the inside circles seem to be positive and outside ones negative, which explains the number of them. However,...

Q: A (not so) K₁₂ problem

Parcly TaxelThe following map on the torus was devised by Peter Ungar and John Leech. It has 7 mutually adjacent faces each homeomorphic to a disk. In addition, geometrically the whole map is face-transitive – any face can be brought to any other face by a symmetry of the map. Can you find a map on the six...
