Got a nice puzzle from my friend, when he was competing in IWYMIC/IMC 2011. Paint $21$ of the $49$ squares of a $7 \times 7$ board so that no four painted squares form the four corners of a rectangle. As an example, the left board here is a valid solution for $10$ painted squares, whereas the...

Cryptic crossword answer is ‘hold up’ but why? Not understanding where this answer is coming from in the clue. Synonyms for brewski? Work can be represented by ‘op’ Can’t see it!

5:56 PM
I think it’s an anagram of “published work” subtracting a synonym of “brewski”, definition [robbery]
But on mobile right now so can’t post answers easily
Actually it’s just the letters of brewski

beaten by less than a minute

"return detailed" is still a mystery... can't see how either "some synonym of return minus last letter" or "some synonym of detailed backwards" gives anything useful

@Sphinx this isn’t a puzzle. Even if it was, it’s entirely too broad and too subjective.

Another puzzle in the spirit of the Density™ puzzle. This one requires coordination plus some basic math. Enjoy! Final answer: (7)

In any case, I'm more concerned with the weather outside

Too bored to make this an actual riddle, but here it is:
SCRAMBLED
scram - get out
scramble - in football
ambled - walked
bled - seeped
ramble (infix) - talk

cram - to stuff

aha
that would work too
My prefix in football
My prefix's prefix is mean
My suffix went on and on
My suffix's suffix walked away
My suffix's suffix's suffix seeped
My infix is stuff
My infix's infix is the goat
My infix's infix's infix is in the morning

The suffix of the prefix of my prefix is my infix's infix
yes
I see that and it is funny
My prefix is in football
My prefix's prefix is mean
My suffix went on and on
My suffix's suffix walked away
My suffix's suffix's suffix seeped
My infix is stuff
My infix's infix is the goat
My infix's infix's infix is in the morning
^ but this all could be the text of the puzzle

maybe return detailed is ASC(-end)?
de-tailed -> tail removed -> "end" removed? quite a stretch though
now that i wrote it out i realize "ascend" isn't a terribly good match for "return" either
