So this is slow beyond my worst fears.

Things that should (must?) be discussed before the blog is set up:
Who the (non-mod) administrators should be, and what their role should be.
What the workflow for posting to the blog should be. (Different types of posts will probably have different workflows.)
What our goal for the blog is.
With what frequency should we aim to have new posts.

@ArthurFischer Well, for starters, I'll give you a heads up that all of the moderators will be administrators, on top of any community administrators you appoint for the actual task of reviewing things.

@GraceNote I kind of figured that the mods would be involved in some manner. I don't want it to be only the mods.

The main job of mods is to do sanity checks - make sure that nothing remotely questionable or distasteful gets through. Be quite thorough there. We would like it if at least two mods can check off on any post before it goes out. I don't foresee as much problem in this sphere compared to others, but that's the protocol now. Copy-editing, it's your call if you want to do it, but the moderator portion of the job is to make sure it's clean stuff.

@ArthurFischer Well, the question of goals is certainly worth discussing.
For me one of the big problems of Math.SE today is the sheer amount of questions. Everything disappears quickly etc.
(And then popular questions get asked again and again etc.)
Think about that recent story when the (variations) of the same question about the sum $1+2+3+4+...$ appeared again and again
if we had a blog then we could write a single post about the topic
So my idea about regular topics ($\approx$goals): 'question of the week' + explanation of popular topics that surface again and again + something related to the current math events ("posts giving some information about recent major math award winners (Fields' Medal, Abel Prize, etc)").
...As for the workflow, Alex Becker's proposition looks reasonable.

Perhaps we should make a meta question in which people can vote for what sorts of blog posts they would like to see. (Make an answer for each of "quesiton of the week", "explanation of popular topics", "info about recent major math award winners", etc. and see which get the most upvotes.)
