Q: Is it correct to ask a question that can be answered doing searches?

Universal_learnerWe want more questions, but I know we want good ones. I am someone that look for a lot of information in the net. Sometimes I have a question related with Earth Science, and I find an explanation. But sometimes the source is not official, sometimes it answers my question too briefly. Can I ask...

@gerrit Oh, not so long ago. The discussion gives me flashbacks of my preliminary exam in graduate school, over a billion seconds ago. The question was to draw an airplane wing and explain how it worked. I started talking about conformal mapping in the complex plane...
They said no, no, no, how does it work? I said the path across the top is longer than the path on the bottom and the also similarly interrupted with a "thank you, that's enough"
For some reason this is all I remember from graduate school (slightly exaggerating here)

I deleted the meta question because I feel I didn't explain my issue. It is something maybe I should have asked here if you want to leave me a tip about it

@Universal_learner there have been lengthy discussions about if "google it" is a good or bad way to respond to a question. I think you should undelete your question; discussions like this is why we have meta sites
